Under a sea of snow that stretched for miles, a deer ran through the trees of the dense frozen forest, probably lost from its family or seeking shelter.

The animal stops quickly, feels a good smell in the air, observes the surroundings, and notices some berries conveniently left on the ground, accumulated in a pile, if it were human, it would have suspected the trap.

A sound echoes through the forest, and the little deer dies from an arrow, and falls almost immediately to the ground, bleeding incessantly. The boy in the red cape, hidden behind the bushes covered with snow, gets up, with a crossbow in his hand, and other hunting equipment. He goes to the animal and ties it, puts it on his shoulder and walks his way towards the wolf's house, who always invites him to dinner, but always asks Alex to bring the meat.

The hunter approaches an imposing house in the middle of the snow, well built, large, and through the windows you could see the fireplace burning, he punches the door with his foot.

- Mars~ open the damn door

- Hang on a sec... - A low and hoarse voice is heard from inside the house. The man who opens the door is tall, big, with gray eyes and black hair, to complement his canines were sharp and imposing, he also had cute, pointed ears, and a fluffy, long tail. The hunter in the red cape enters the house and places the animal on the kitchen table, while the wolf man closes the door, sharpens his knives and begins to prepare the animal and its meat.

- Did you encounter any danger today? - says the great wolf
- None, the forest was strangely quiet - Alex replies thoughtfully.

- In winter it's always like this, try to get used to it

- it's just, I didn't think I would have to actually live in a forest, I was used to only come on certain occasions, just once in a while, so I never got to hunt for a whole winter.

- Well, thank god you have me at least, that way maybe you will feel less lonely adapting.

- Please, don't be so corny.

Alex puts his cloak on a clothes rack, and approaches Mars who is making dinner.

- the smell is very good.

- No better than yours - says the wolf, holding the stirring spoon and carefully preparing the meal.

- I just hope you don't mistake me for your dinner - the hunter teases as he reaches the dishes in the cupboard and sets the table. Both of them laugh it off and have their time chit chatting until the food was ready.

Alex starts to eat voraciously, which is understandable since all the food the wolf prepares is divine.

- be careful.

- im not a child - he retorts - Anyways, it's a bit shameful to ask after i came here thousands of times, but what do you even do every day? I never see you in the florest, neither on the nerby village, you know they are in need of hands to help the construction of the new church Right? You could get some good trades there!

He chuckles - Well, although I'm thankful for you concern, i assure you im keeping myself busy every day, mostly at deeply in the forest, where only half humans live, there I teach the kids about everything in this florest, what they should watch out for... And also help providing protection.

- Wow that's.. a bit unexpected, i didn't really picture you as a teacher...

- I suppose my appearance got in the way of you jugment.

Alex sighs. He gets up and clean the dishes, likewise Mars gets up and help out.
Some time passes, they play some trivial games and chat, Alex says his goodbyes and go to his home in the border of the florest, actually he didn't explore the area Very much, just enough to get by and meet the wolf. Maybe that's why he really feels like the deal both of them made was a win win, he hunts, recive delicious meals and also discovers more about this land.

Step for step he makes his way till his home, small in comparison to the wolf's, but cozy and all he needed to survive, Alex gets in, change his clothes, do the remaining house chores and finally stops by the shabby window, just a hole in the wood house, whit no glass or anything, to catch a break, he stares intensely at the little snowflakes, and daze off for a second, for some reason this silence is making him feel lonely..

- should i adopt a dog..? - he rambles as looking to the snow outside.
