Alpha Finn's pov
Closing the door as quietly as possible, I creep through my house being careful not to wake Priya. She's probably used to me getting in late, but not three in the morning late.
My last stop was to check on Liam, but before that was a total nightmare. When Moonwalker Pack contacted us to say that Malcomb was attacking Bloodmoon, we didn't hesitate to send aid. I just so happened to be one of the werewolves who went there to help them.
By the time my pack, and some of Moonwalker's pack showed up, the damage was already done. Somehow, the enemy had figured out that we had guards in the tree's, and they acted accordingly. I never thought I'd live to see the day where our kind used man made weapons, but that's exactly what happened. The guards in the trees were gunned down before they even knew what was going on, creating a clearing for the drugged wolves to get through.
Bloodmoon didn't have the second layer of defense that mine and Micah's pack did, by putting more guards up in trees. Their second layer was the ground crew. A ground crew that was only armed with what the Goddess gave them at that. Alpha Fenris never made it with his truck full of assault style weapons. Malcomb was now in possession of those.
So they did the only thing they could. Fight in wolf form to take down the crazies. Sadly, every last one of them lost their lives to the poisoning. All fifty two of them. It's a devastating loss, considering Red Dawn didn't have many fighters left to join Bloodmoon when they moved in with them. It was mostly elderly, females, and pups, none in which were prepared to fight.
If Alpha Fenris and Tony had just joined our efforts, and meetings, they might have been more prepared. Then again, maybe not. Malcomb keeps changing the game, leaving us scrambling to figure out a solution. This new trick of his, was as effective as the first attack he launched.
The team I went there with helped gather up the remains of all the lifeless wolves, and made a pyre for them. Alpha Tony wasn't much help, he was going to the families of the wolves who died to deliver the bad news. Beta Justin was among the ones who fell tonight. Although he didn't say it, I knew Tony was taking this death the hardest. It was like losing your left hand. He relied on Justin to help him make decisions to keep the pack safe, but now he was on his own. I suppose the head of security, James, will have to step up and fill those shoes for the time being.
During the meeting with Micah's pack tomorrow, I'm going to suggest that those who are left at Bloodmoon temporarily stay between my pack and his. There was no way they could handle another attack, and somehow, I feel like Malcomb knows this. They need to know that they have options that don't include joining the enemy. If Tony's mental health falls any further, and Luna Alora gets antsy about Fenris still being held up there, the possibility of that happening might be greater than we expect.
The thing is, at the end of the day, my number one allegiance was to Moonwalker pack, that's why I'd be conversing with them about what we should do. I'm more than happy to fight this battle with just them. Weed out all the bullshit that the other packs seem to bring to our meetings. Too many opinions, not enough action.
I slip into the bathroom downstairs to take a shower. Hopefully, Priya doesn't hear the water running, because I really needed to wash the last sixteen hours off of me. I had protective gloves on while helping at Bloodmoon, but my hands still felt like they had unmentionable stuff covering them. Besides that, I'm sure I've sweated through my deodorant and cologne long ago. I certainly wouldn't be doing myself any favors climbing into bed smelling like sweaty ass. My goal was to make Priya want to stay with me, not run in the opposite direction.
Ridding my body of its clothes feels almost as good as the shower will. I crank the water to almost as hot as it will turn up to, then step under the spray. Standing with my eyes closed, I let the water cascade over my head and down my body. When was this fuckery going to end? It's not lost on me that my pack is only one of two that has not been attacked yet. The other was Snowmoon, but that might have something to do with the fact that they were supposed to be allies with Malcomb. Or at least Zane was. I'm sure whatever else Malcomb has planned, he'll use my pack to test it out on. Since there was no way to know what it was, it's not like we could plan for it.
