The Dream

I was admiring the beauty of sunsets when I questioned myself on how I discovered my passion for writing. Or, how do you even start to write.

This might sound intriguing, but I do wonder how or where other people took the idea of creating that certain character. Because, as a writer myself, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of my works are truly and simply about social issues, and the characters that the story develops are simply some fictional works that doesn't seem to resemble any of me.

Some may say that they write according to what they want to share or something that they've experienced. And I then again remember something that I learned on a regional activity that I have participated in. It was at that moment that they asked us to write an essay about something that says: What you are is what you truly are.

That is when I remember that we are all uniquely different just like what Lorrie Moore quoted. "An author's life is different, complex, and ongoing, while a character's remains frozen in one little story."

That is why I kind of believe that there is no strong connection between me and my characters. Like they were only fictional things that existed in my head.

And right now. I was now walking outside my home. Strolling around our place while admiring the beauty of nature Letting myself have time to think before writing any of my works when i suddenly proved my beliefs wrong.

You and your character shares one dream. And that is to live in the world you're into.

Many of these things really kind of resembled me in some way. Like the way my work loves studying science because I do. The way it shows hardships in life to face and to survive. And how the way my characters resemble me as someone who just wants to love and to be loved.

It just got into me. Your character is the definition of you. Your inner you.

That is why I still have the urge to write. For one thing, to achieve the success I dreamt of.

It was like my hope to continue writing. Just like how that one small piece of chocolate makes me go forward. It was at that time that I received a Hershey's Cookies and Cream chocolate. I still remember how it warmed my heart when I received it.

I was losing hope in writing when it hit me that my passion for writing shouldn't be only a dream. But rather, take your dreams as your stepping stone to success.

Just like how Hershey's kisses me with joy and hope for another day to come. And just like how it teaches me to go forward.

And that sunset will eventually be your resetting point for you to continue, and for you to tell yourself that you've finally chased the dream.

Because behind every dream, there would be a chocolaty success.
