Chapter 13

Y/N was on his way to Butterfly Mansion to hang out with Aoi and the others. Frankly speaking, the two had developed a sort of sibling bond as well over the past few weeks.

He landed on a tree, when he saw Tanjiro talking to Kanao, as he hid behind the tree.

Kanao: When I don't get an order, I use this coin to decide what to do.

Y/N: She's talking...? To Tanjiro?

Kanao: I was deciding whether to talk to you or not. If it was tails, I would have talked to you, if it was heads, I won't have talked to you. It was tails just now.

She smiles at Tanjiro.

Kanao: Sayonara.

Tanjiro: Why don't you decide it yourself? Kanao, what do you want?

Kanao: *smiling* I'm fine with anything. As I'm fine with anything, I can't make such decisions.

Tanjiro: I don't think that it's possible to live with anything in this world. It must be because the voice in your heart is too soft.

Y/N: *whispering* Tanjiro... You...

Tanjiro: But following orders is very important too.

He suddenly gets an idea.

Tanjiro: Can you lend me your coin?

Kanao: Oh... Okay...

She gives Tanjiro the coin, as he runs up in the garden and stands at a distance.

Tanjiro: Alright! I'll toss this to make a decision!

Kanao: What is it?

Tanjiro: To decide whether from now on, you should listen to the voice in your heart or not!

He tosses the coin, but applies a bit too much pressure, as the coin goes up in the sky.

Tanjiro: Oh no! I used too much force! Heads. Please be heads!

Y/N leans towards the coin to see the results as well.

Suddenly, a gentle breeze rushes past their faces.

Y/N: Wind...? Wait... That means...

Tanjiro catches the coin as he hides it with his other hand.

Tanjiro: I caught it! Kanao!

He runs up to her, as Y/N leans even more forward to see what the result was.

Tanjiro: Look, Kanao.

He removes his hand as he jumps in joy.

Tanjiro: It's heads!

Y/N smiles as he leans in the bark of the tree and rests his head on it and closes his eyes as he listens to Tanjiro with a smile on his face.

Tanjiro: Kanao!

He gives the coin to the girl, and takes her hands into his.

Tanjiro: You can do it! The heart is the driving force for the humans. The heart will keep getting stronger!

He lets go of her hand.

Tanjiro: Well, I'll be going now!

He starts to run away, when Kanao stops him.

Kanao: How did you throw it to get heads?

Tanjiro smiles.

Tanjiro: It's a coincidence. Besides, if it showed tails, I would've thrown it till I got heads.

He shows her a cheeky smile, as Y/N's eyes widen at Kanao's reaction.

Y/N had been spending a lot of time with Aoi recently, and her habits were rubbing off on him, as he keeps staring at Kanao, when a sly grin falls on his face, and he lands behind her.
