(Delirious' POV)I groaned in annoyance as my alarm clock rung. Time for another boring day at work. I rolled out of my bed and made my way to my bathroom. I dressed up in my usual suit and tie. I hate it. It's uncomfortable and too business-like for me. I can't complain though. I'm one of the big bosses for a huge company. It's not my first pick but it pays pretty well. With all the money I earned from my job I was able to get a pent house in Toronto, Canada.
When I moved from North Carolina when my job got promoted. I was pretty sad because I had to leave all of my friends and family back home. I missed my sister, who is the closest person to me in my family, and my best friend Luke or Cartoonz. Even though I was sad to leave them, I had also made tons of new friends. My closest friends were Tyler, Craig, Daithi, Lui, Marcel, Brock, and Brian. Some of them were long distance though. Brian and Daithi lived all the way in Ireland and Lui and Marcel lived in America.
I walked out of the building of my pent house. I always walk to my job because it's so close to where I live and it gives me some peace and quiet. It was a cloudy day but overall pretty nice. I checked the weather and saw that it was going to rain later this day.
"Good morning, Jonathan" Lindsey greeted me. Lindsey is the person who runs the front desk at my building and one of my closest friends. We used to be in a relationship but we ended it because things weren't working out. She is now in a relationship with Luke. I'm still single, but I don't mind.
I smile at Lindsey and wave hello. She smiles back and goes to greet another worker. I take the elevator up to my office at the very top of the building.
Work was boring, as usual. All I do everyday is sit at a desk, go to conferences, and have "important" phone calls. Lindsey was still at the front desk when I left to go back to my apartment. We both waved at each other and said goodbye.
The sky outside was grey and raindrops were pouring down, soaking my suit. I didn't really care. I love the rain, it's just so calm.
I was walking on the sidewalk, enjoying the rain, when I saw some people crowding around something in an alleyway. Being the curious person I am, I went over to see what they were looking at. I walked over quietly, so they would notice me. I peered through the small crowd of people and saw two people in the middle. One person was laying on the ground, curled into a ball. The other was above the person laying on the ground, kicking him. I quickly realized that they were beating this person up and walked up to the crowd.
"What do you guys think you're doing?" I say. The guy stops kicking the person on the ground and turns to look at me. He was pretty intimidating. He was buff and had this threatening look to him. The crowd had gathered into a group and were staring at me. The guy grimaced at me but I just smirked at him. He cracked his knuckles and started slowly walking towards me. The crowd had now formed a circle around me and him. There were yells and hoots all around me. This is fun. The adrenaline rushing through my veins was like a new high. I love it.
They had almost completely forgotten about the guy who they were beating up and I was thankful. Once this was over I can go check on him.
The guy was the first one to throw a punch. I quickly and easily dodged it, throwing him off balance. I took this chance to throw a punch at him. I hit him squarely in the jaw and knocked him back. He stumbled back, holding his jaw. There were gasps from the crowd and some of them even backed away.
That just made the guy even more furious. He just started randomly throwing punches. I had no problem blocking them and easily threw punches his way. I landed a hard punch right at his nose and heard a satisfying crack. He tumbled back, yelling in pain. When he removed his hand from his nose, it was bleeding and bent at a strange angle. I smirked, "you tired yet?" The crowd were now whispering and mumbling, some even ran away.
The guy frowned and backed away a little bit. "This ain't over yet, bitch" he sneered and ran away. I put my hands by my sides and took a breath. I turn my head over to the person curled into a ball. I kneel by his side and gently rub his back. Not to be creepy or anything, I just wanted to comfort him.
He slowly turns over and faces me. I gasp in surprise. Instead of regular human ears, he had black cat ears that were almost covered by his scruffy hair. He looks down and sits up a little.
"T-thanks for saving me" he says and I swear my heart melted a little. He just sounded so broken and scared. I strongly resisted the urge to engulf him in a giant bear hug. "Hey it's no problem, really" I say in a kind tone. He slowly smiles and get up to walk away. I quickly get up and reach for his arm, stopping him where he is. "Wait, no don't have to go" I say pleadingly. He looks at me, confused. "B-but, where will I go?" he asks. I get up and face him. "You can stay with me, at least for a while" I say hopefully. He smiles a little and engulfs me in a hug. Surprised, I step back a little bit, but slowly hug him back. We pull away and he blushes a little bit.
"Oh, by the way, what's your name?" I ask.
"Vanoss, my name is Vanoss" he says.
