"There's no way you're actually going to show up alone," I say to Belly.  "Who ever said I was going alone?" she says. Looking at me with a mischievous glint. "Suddenly being cuddled up with a bunch of 40 year old women doesn't sound too bad." I say sarcastically. I don't know how she could look at me, and think i'd be willing to show up to a party I wasn't invited too, again. Belly rolls her eyes, and then picks up a pink mini dress her friend from home gave her off of her bed. She puts it against her body and raises an eyebrow at me. "It's cute" I say, as I nod in approval. "It is, but I've never really worn something like this, and I'm not really sure how I feel about hard launching this new style at a bonfire" she says. "It's not like anyone you know is going to be there. Well except the boys, but i'm sure they'll be too busy pretending like they have absolutely no idea who you are to even give you crap about what you're wearing!" I say amusingly.

Belly laughs as I stand up to head out the door, "Now i'm going to go downstairs and work my charm on 40-year-old women while you sneak away," I say to her as I pat her shoulder. "So don't fuck it up." Belly rolls her eyes,"Wait so you don't want come with me?" she asks just before I step out of the room. "Nope!"

As I reached the downstairs, the sweet smell of brownie batter invades my senses. Suddenly waves of nostalgia hit me as I remember our first night traditions. I almost felt comfort in the fact that although the people I grew up with are changing, at least I knew our mothers will always be the same mothers they were since we were 10, 11,12, 13, and so on.   Laurel was the first to notice me, "Valeria! Hey! we haven't put the dvd in yet wanna go do it for us?" she exclaims. "Oh hey corazón" My mom says to me as she enters the kitchen. "Oh hey Val. You ready to have the best night of your life?" Savannah says amusingly. "Oh yes, I just can't wait to watch 'It Happened in One Night,' for the 100th time!" I respond sarcastically, in which they respond with a laugh as I walk into the living room.

Forty minutes later, three forty-year-old women were now asleep on top of me. Belly still hadn't come down yet and I had started to debate going upstairs and checking up on her. I spoke too soon however, as I then heard steps, one step after another slowly. "Belly they're literally knocked out come down already!" I whispered. I then heard the pace of her footsteps become quicker. It's dark in the house as all the lights are off, so I couldn't really see her well. "You genuinely gave me a heart attack Val don't ever do that again" she angering whispered to me as she slid behind the couch towards the door. "Well I had to loosen you up one way or another" I said to her while trying to as gently as I could, pry off the limbs of our mothers resting on me so that I could stand up.

"Do you really think I should go? I mean I don't know anyone there so what's the point" Belly says to me worryingly. "Well for one that dress looks really good on you and it deserves to be shown off" I say to her.  Holding a finger up, before I could list another reason one of the three women knocked out on the couch let out possibly the loudest snore we've ever heard in  our entire lives. Needless to say it scared the shit out of us, and Belly was quick to open the front door. "Okay bye! Before they snore themselves awake" She says nervously. "Bye, be safe, and come home in one piece please" I say to her as I shut the door. "No promises!"
