Her lord husband was experienced in war, an excellent general, and he did not shy away from doing what every man seemed afraid to do. Rose would be impressed if she wasn't at the top of his death list.

"Mother said we shouldn't do anything without her orders," Jacaerys argued with Daemon, brave yet nervous. He swallowed as Daemon looked at him unimpressed, a promise of blood and death in his eyes.

"Your mother is talking with our allies at the moment," Daemon replied, grabbing his sword 'Dark Sister', "and we are doing the same."

Rhaenyra had received a visit from Lady Jeyne Arryn, the head of House Arryn, also called the Maiden of the Vale, an ally and cousin of her namesake, Aemma Arryn of House Targaryen. It was strange to suddenly be surrounded by people who were related to her, when all her life she had thought that her last living relative was dead.

"Loyalty can't be forced!" Jacaerys hissed and jumped in shock as Daemon took a step towards him. Lucerys stood nervously next to him and took a step back.

Rose felt out of place. She had spent time with Lucerys, bumping into Jacaerys and Daemon just to witness their argument. Daemon was superior to them all, both physically and mentally. Every pore in his body demanded respect and obedience.

"Come with me," Daemon ordered. "I'll show you what true loyalty looks like."

Jacaerys looked at him in surprise and suspicion. Daemon ignored him and let his gaze slide to Rose, who was becoming smaller and smaller under his scrutiny.

"She comes with us," Daemon said to Jacaerys, pointing at Rose, who was surprised by his order. She exchanged a look with Jacaerys, who seemed stiff and not particularly pleased with the fact that she was coming with them.
