Wala pang title

Lily had them around her fingers. It's like this event, this ambush was already planned and with her observation. She had calculated every move.

"Ibaba ninyo ang inyong mga baril! Kundi patay ang presidente ninyo!", she shouted at them Agilas, this was a special mission after all, and they've already lost some men.

"Huwag Cardo! Agila, walang magbababa ng baril!", Oscar pleads, raising his arms up.

"Manahimik ka, Oscar!", she screams, pressing the gun to his covered throat more. "Ano, hindi niyo ba talaga ibababa?", the Agila's were torn. But eventually, gave in to Lily's orders.

"Subukan niyo lang magpaputok, pareho kaming babagsak ng mahal kong asawa rito!", she says, and starts moving towards the wide beachfront, where a helicopter can be seen. Oscar walks with Lily despite the difficulty of doing so.

"Bakit ba hindi natin yan idinespatsya kanina?", Major Basco asks, already sewing up the pieces.

"Manahimik kayo! Ngayon talikod! Cardo, tumalikod ka!", she shouts again, moving closer and closer to the helicopter.

Oscar already had leg cramps. His height difference with his enemy-wife was no secret a very huge one, with him almost being a whole head taller and she was holding him by the neck.

"Lily, tama na ito", he pleads with her. Oscar feels her grip weakening. Then he hears her sobs.

"Oscar ito nalang ang pag-asa ko. Hindi na ako magbabago katulad ng ipinangako ko sayo. So please, just go along", she pleads. Oscar is now sure that she's crying. Lily might have hidden a lot from him during their time together, but she could not hide those times when she cried every night. That's why he always pretended to be asleep as he reached for her and hug her while she cried til she passed out.

"Lily, magiging maayos pa ang buhay mo. Sisiguraduhin kong mababa lang ang sintensya mo", he promises falling to his knees due to the pain, she does too. Now only reaching his shoulders, she had let go of the gun.

She hugs him from behind, Cardo sees this as an impression of defeat, as if she's letting Oscar shield her from their bullets.

"Anong ginagawa ng presidente?", Major Opeña ask, as they all witness Oscar reaching for Lily's arms that was hugging him from behind, as if hugging her back. He was crying, only they didn't see his wife too.

"Lily, isusuko na kita. Limang taon sa kulungan, iyon ang ipinapangako ko", he negotiates, crying, securing her arms around his neck as he stood up.

Lily rested her head on his shoulder, calming herself from crying.

"Punta muna tayo sa dagat?", she asks. He puts his foot back, one he almost stepped forward.

"Cardo! Pupuntahan muna namin ang dagat, narito na ang baril", he shouts at them and turns for the sea with Lily on his back, they walked slowly, as if trying to savour every second they had with each other left.

"Masyadong mabait ang presidente kay Lily!",

"Asawa niya pa rin yan, minahal niya pa rin si Lily",

They couldn't help but just watch the married couple as Oscar let his feet be met with the waves approaching the shore. Just like how he was willing to take on anything against her.

"Huli tayong nakapunta sa beach nung hindi pa tayo mag-asawa", Oscar starts.

"Mahal kita Oscar, paniwalaan mo man o hindi, mahal kita, minahal kita", Lily says, with a faint voice, must've been from her shouting earlier.

He doesn't listen, he takes them to pass through his mind, to not process it yet. He's not ready.

"Plano ko sana bumalik tayo doon sa resort mo para sa honeymoon natin. Tayong dalawa lang kasi wala pa tayo nun, ng tayo lang", he continues. "Alam mo Lily, nung makasal ako sayo, ipinangako ko sa sarili ko na gagawin ko ang lahat para protektahan ka. Na kahit anong mangyari, iaalay ko ang buhay ko para sayo. Sabihin mo Lily, ni minsan ba, naisip mong kaya mo akong mahalin? Kahit konti, kahit sandali lang?",

Oscar wants to scream his heart out for answers but Lily has had her last breath. She had gone hearing his voice, seeing him and the beautiful scenery, being with him, smelling his perfume mixed with his deodorant and sweat from running around with her. Her heart, he hopes, was at peace.

They walk back to where the Agilas were. Oscar crying, he's not hiding it anymore, they know. They might not understand but he doesn't care, they've loved people who were not as complex as Lily. He's contented with just fulfilling her last request.

Lily always had a weak heart since childhood, she had known how to avoid feeling too much emotions. Under the stressful circumstances, her heart weakened that eventually gave out as she had her rant with Oscar.

They recovered the bodies with the help of back ups, hoping that their families could give them a proper burial and finally put them to peace.

He had Lily's remains cremated. And lived with Aurora for the rest of their lives. No one spoke of that encounter in Tierra del Diablo, ever.

There are secrets you keep from your spouse, they said. The father and the mother of the country, they said.
