Jungwon sat staring at Jay, who was currently unconscious on his hospital bed. He lay there covered in bruises and a cast wrapped around his left arm. The longer he stares at Jay, the more the guilt eats at him. It's all his fault, if it weren't for him none of this would have happened. It's been two days and Jungwon refuses to leave Jay's side. Sunoo's tried to convince him to go home to rest and take a much needed shower, but he won't budge.
Sitting in the chair next to the hospital bed, he continues to stare poker faced at the unconscious man. His eyes not leaving him for even a second. It hasn't been that long but to Jungwon it feels like forever, he starts to wonder if Jay's ever going to wake up or if he's decided to leave him alone in this wretched world as punishment for being the reason he's in such bad condition. Honestly, Jungwon believes he deserves this punishment, so he stares at Jay as a reminder that this is his fault.
He's so convinced that his punishment is Jay never waking up that he almost thinks he imagined it when he hears Jay groan.
For a second his eyes dart to the door and when he looks back Jay's already looking at him, eyes unreadable.
Jungwon sucks in a breath, scared that if he makes even the slightest movement he'll wake up to find that this was just a dream. He sees Jay's mouth moving, about to say something but before he gets anything out, Jungwon jumps up from seat and runs out the door. When he walks back in not even a minute later, there's a doctor trailing behind him. He resumes his seat, his eyes settling back on Jay, watching him as he get questioned by the doctor.
"So, how are you feeling Mr. Park?" The doctor asks, the pen in his hand ready to take notes.
"Surprisingly, not too bad. My arm hurts like a bitch though." Jay replies, his voice coming out a bit thick from not being used for almost three days.
"Well that's expected. How's your body?" The doctor says, his pen dashing across his clipboard.
"It's a bit achy but nothing I can't handle." He says, moving a bit to test himself.
"Ok that's good. When we examined you, you didn't seem to have any damage done to your head. Just a few scratches. You should be out by tomorrow afternoon. But you're going to need to rest for a couple weeks, so no sports or anything for a while." The doctor says, looking up from his board when he says no sports.
"Yes, ok. Whatever will help." He says, with a sigh, knowing he's going to miss a handful of basketball ball games.
"Ok great, that's all for now. I will be checking in on you before you get discharged though." The doctor says before leaving.
Jay turns to look at Jungwon, they stay like that for a while. Just staring at each other, before Jungwon decides to break the silence.
"I'm sorry." He says looking down at his hands.
Jay just lays there studying him. After a couple seconds he lets out a sigh.
"It's ok." He says. Jungwon looks up to see Jay still looking at him, a strange look that he can't describe on his face. "I have a question though."
"Yeah ok." Jungwon replies, a bit shocked at how quickly Jay forgave him.
"Who are you?"
