"Sigma!" Dazai yells out, running through the forest they've landed in. "Sigma! Sigma, did you make it!?" He yells again. His voice is strained and tired, probably from all the smoke he inhaled.

"Over here..!" He hears from a tired voice that he doesn't hesitate to sprint towards. Dazai runs through thick brush and sharp thorns, the adrenaline he's feeling stopping him from experiencing any of the pain. After getting through a particularly rough bush, he sees sprawled out lavender and white hair. "Sigs!" He dives towards the body, sliding onto his knees to be next to them.

"Dazai.." Sigma looks up towards him, a frail smile on his face. Dazai scoops them up, Sigma's face leaning against his chest. "We've made it.." Dazai sighs, his eyes closing contently for a moment.

Sigma coughs heavy and deep, blood splattering onto Dazai's whiteish uniform. "Sigma..where are you injured?" Dazai pulls Sigma away from his chest gently, examining their body. "Have you shrunk?" He's confused. Why does Sigma look so tiny? An almost silent chuckle falls from Sigma's torn and bloody lips. "Dazai..are you aware of the identity of Kamui?" Dazai feels a chill on his back that he ignores. "Of course. Our detective deducted Kamui to be Ochi Fukuchi, when him and Atsushi were on the boat-"

"That's not him."

"..What?"

"It's not Fukuchi."

"But..Ranpo has never been wrong-"

"Fukuchi has never been Kamui, it's always been Dostoevsky."

Dazai swallows the gasp that was built up in his throat, he holds Sigma tighter.

"How can you be so sure?"

Sigma's silent at first, but when their eyes meet Dazai's, they give another small smile.

"Kamui is the one who carries the page. When I killed Dostoevsky, he had the page."

Dazai nods. "I guess that makes some sense- Sigma!" Dazai can't help the way his voice sounds so terrified as he look down at Sigma, noticing that their feet slowly faded into a red dust. "What's happening to you?! Is this an ability?!" Dazai put his hand on the red mess, summoning his ability to stop whatever was happening to Sigma.

It didn't work.

Sigma laughs. "Don't you remember?" Their eyes meet again.

"I was made by the page..the page that I destroyed."

Dazai can only stare, eyes wide and mouth open.

"You destroyed it?!" He screams. Sigma flinches.

"You fucking idiot!"

"What-!"

"Why the fuck would you do that?! Shit, shit!"

Sigma is confused at Dazai's outburst.

"Wasn't that the plan? Destroy the page and save Yokohama? Save everyone!?"

"You didn't save everyone!"

Dazai's voice cracks and his head hangs low.

"You didn't save yourself..!"

Tears fall from Dazai eyes and onto Sigma's face. Dazai wipes them away from Sigma's skin

"Dazai! There's no reason to cry!"

"What do you mean!? You're going to die! And I..I can't stop it! I can't even get you to Yosano to help you!"

More tears fall onto Sigma. "Sorry" Dazai mutters as he wipes them away again. Sigma lays in Dazai's arms for a couple minutes, Dazai's sobs being the only thing that breaks the silence of the woods. They remain this way until Dazai shivers. "Oh, I have something for you." Sigma says. They reach into their back pocket and gently pull out a familiar brown coat, neatly folded.

"I thought you'd want this when you eventually escaped." Dazai's trench coat is unfolded and Sigma leans up to wrap it around him, but Dazai stops them. "Sigma.." Dazai runs their thumb under Sigma's eye, caressing their cheek. "Remember...after I saved you from the water...can we-"

"Yes"

Sigma interrupts Dazai, but they can't help it. Dazai laughs. He pulls Sigma's face to his and their lips meet tenderly. It's a slow kiss, nothing like the one Dazai threw at Sigma after they escaped their drowned fate. As the kiss deeps, Sigma suddenly gasps and clutches Dazai's shirt tighter. Their eyes squint in pain. "Sigs?" Dazai holds them. He looks down and notices that now Sigma's knees are gone, replaced by the red dust. "Oh fuck." Dazai carefully stands up, Sigma in his arms. He wraps the coat around Sigma like a blanket and begins running, carrying Sigma in a bridal pose.

"I can't let you die here, you need to rest in a place that matches your beauty!" Dazai grunts as he runs through the woods. Sigma smiles and leans into Dazai's hold. "It's almost night" They say, unsure if Dazai even heard them with as weak as their voice was becoming. Dazai's eyes widen as a thought hit his brain.

"Do you like sunsets?"

He did hear Sigma.

"I love them."

Dazai nods and continues running, his grip on Sigma never becoming weaker. It felt like forever until Dazai's sprint came to a stop. "We're here." He said, out of breath but still standing. Sigma rolled their head and stared out at the view.

They were on a hill now, onlooking the rest of the woods with a bright sunset as the tree's backdrop. "It's beautiful." Sigma says before smiling. "There's no way I can compare."

"Of course you do."

Dazai walks to the edge of the hill. He sits on the grass, Sigma laying in his lap once again. Sigma is even lighter now, only their torso and up remaining. They both sit in silence, admiring the sunset.

"Dazai, where will you bury me?"

Dazai's heart is shattering at the question and his eyes wet again. "Where do you want to be buried?" He asks, his voice wavering. Sigma is quiet for a moment.

"Somewhere..where you will visit me..always."

Dazai smiles, letting tears run down his cheeks once more. "Of course. I know just the place." He pulls Sigma as possibly close to his body as he could. "I'll always visit you."

Sigma smiles and closes their eyes, feeling the breeze climb up the hill. Dazai does the same, letting himself be lost in the wind for awhile. He sighs.

"Sigma..would you be mad, if I escaped this planet with you..?"

"Sigma?"

Dazai's eye scrunch tighter as tears begin to fall harder. He notices how light the coat Sigma's bundled in is now. He can't suppress the bubbled up sob that escapes him as he looks down,

and an empty coat is all that stares back.

He pulls the coat to his face and a broken scream follows, his sobbing echo's the forest around him. He stays like that until the sun sets and the birds are gone. Eventually and slowly, Dazai stands and makes his way down the hill.

He needs to find a ticket to Yokohama.

"Good morning, Sigma."

Dazai says, the smile on his face small but warm.

"Good morning, Odasaku."

Dazai places the flowers on the graves. Crimson lilies for the grave titled "S. Oda", purple lilacs for "S. Dazai".

"I hope you two are getting along just fine." He says to humor himself. He shivers as the wind blows. "You better give me my coat back when we reunite." He says to Sigma's tomb. He stands there in silence for a while.

"I love you."

Dazai says.

There's no response.

There never will be.
