It was impossible to understand why it could never be that quite simple. Every day came with new challenges and drama. Your dad gets remarried, your best friend starts dating your brother, you find out you have life-changing abilities that will guide you to a secret destiny you never knew about. Honestly, that is not even the worst of what is to come, and trust me: It gets pretty bad.
Astral Frey was the youngest in her family. Her older brother, Cameron, had already graduated and moved away from their hometown, Miami, Florida, to study literature at a school in London alongside his husband, Peter. This means Astral has been the only child in the house for the past two years, not that she was ever really home. She spends almost all of her time at the house of her best friend, Kayla Fudge. Kayla was 5'6, blonde hair, green-eyed cheerleader whose father was the mayor, meaning she was rich and got whatever she wanted. She was not really bratty, however. Her father was never home, and her mother was always off with some random guy, meaning she pretty much had to raise herself. That did not, however, mean she was not insanely rich and got whatever she wanted.
Astral had a decent home life. Loving mother and father until about three years ago, when her mother unexpectedly fell ill. Marianne Frey had lived twenty-one beautiful years, until she died from cancer about three years ago. It was hard to lose her mother, but Astral likes to remind herself that her mother is no longer in pain and will never feel pain again.
It was mid-September, getting close to fall and Halloween season. Astral and Kayla were in their senior year of high school at McKinley High, your average local high school. Both of the guys were cheerleaders and senior captains since they had been doing it since Freshman year. Today had started out like any other day: Average. Famous last words.

I wanted an introduction that was not a part of the actual story but also was not super long, so I just made it a prologue. It's not really a prologue lol, just a slight bit of backstory. It might eventually get updated, but I plan to add all details and backstory in the actual story. Until then, I hope you enjoy.
