Zian sat at the kitchen table; his eyes fixated on the morning paper. as he was flipping through the pages, a small smirk formed on his face, he chuckled to himself softly. "I knew they'd find it." He whispered.
He made his way towards the living room where you were seated reading a book. He came up behind the couch and began to gently massage your shoulders with a sly smile.
"You're terrible at hiding bodies, my love. I should've been the one who hid it." he teased you with a hint of amusement in his voice.
You lifted your head and leaned it back on the couch looking up at Zian. "You were the one who wanted to switch that time." You say with a soft smile, despite being a complete murder.
Zian stops and thinks for a moment unsure if he actually did or not. "Hm, I guess you are right..." he moves around the couch and sits next to you, putting his arm around your shoulder. "Besides that, you should've hid him better." he tells you in a softer tone, making sure he doesn't sound angry at you.
You close your book and set it down on the coffee table. "Well, we can always go back tonight and hide it somewhere completely different. You know, mess with the police a bit." You wondered to yourself if he would actually say yes, knowing he hates cleaning up the sloppy leftovers.
"Ugh.." He groans and rolls his eyes. "I hate when we go back and do that.." He grumbles as he puts his feet up onto the coffee table.
You let out a small sigh. "Yeah i know you do, but we should anyways, since the police already found it." you pause for a minute waiting to see if he'd say anything before you started talking again. "We could always have a little fun and just mess with them too, i know you like doing that at the least." You nudge his shoulder with yours trying to sound convincing.
He leans his head against the back of the couch. "Yeah you're right... i do.." He says quietly almost slightly amazed that you know him so well. "Well, can't say no to that, can i?" He said as he lifted his head back up and looked at you.
You smiled at him and stood up. "Since were going to do it, we might as well do it now." You held out your hands for Zian to take as you stood in front of him.
He chuckles a bit before setting his feet down and grabbing your hands to stand up. "You know, for someone I've only known for 3 years, you sure act like we've known each other our whole lives." He said as he walked over to the coat rack and got his jacket, handing you yours as well.
You take the your coat and put it on as you both walk out of the house.
Awhile later you finally arrive at the scene, there's nobody around to your surprise. You walk over to where the body is and the smell is like a slap in the face, you gag before plugging your nose and waving your opposite hand in front of you to try and get the smell away.
Zian notices you and laughs "What? After all these years still can't handle the smell?" He asked with a teasing tone finding it amusing.
"In my defense the smell comes out of no where sometimes, i could be a foot away from here and not smell it then take a step and all i smell is that." You tell him as you duck under the crime scene police tape they have set up.
"I mean your not wrong, but i'm surprised you haven't gotten used to it by now." He shrugs as he follows behind you ducking under the tape.
"This is it? They didn't even find any of the fun clues we left behind.. man we worked so hard on them." Zian said and he dug up a knife under a small pile a leafs. "Such a waste." He puts the knife in his pocket.
"They didn't? hm thats surprising, don't they like use metal detectors or something like that." I ask a bit humored on how they didn't find it, zipping up the body into a bag.
Zian thinks for a moment. "I'm not entirely sure actually, but i could honestly care less. I'm more confused on how they found the body but not the obvious "clues" we had left." He puts air quotes around clues knowing you two had just been messing around and set someone else up if the police did find it.
You go to pick up the body in the bag, but now that the corpse has settled it makes it heavier than before, Zian took note of you struggling and walked over to you.
"Would you like some help m'lady?" He did a small bow gesture, playfully, before taking the bag off your hands and throwing it over his shoulder like its just some sack of potatoes.
"What do you think we should do with it? Should we completely get rid of it like it was never there? Or put it somewhere else for them to find to throw them off?" You asked Zian as you brushed of the dirt from your pants.
"Hm.. Should we throw them off? maybe leave him just outside the crime scene tape with a sign attached to him." He chuckled at his own remark as he turned to face you.
You shrugged your shoulders. "Fine by me, sounds fun." You said as you stepped out of the taped off area.
Sometime later you both finished setting him up to mess with the police and you take a good minute to admire your work. unfortunately your admiration had to come to a halt when you overhear sirens coming down the street towards you guys. You both walk into the woods just enough so you were out of sight but you can still see and hear everything.
When the cop car passes by it suddenly stops and the car backs up to where the body is sitting with the sign. You and Zian could hear a faint scream coming from the car as it drove off to the station with the siren and lights on. You both laugh as you here the cop scream in the car, you decide to go back home and watch the scene play out on the news.
After awhile you get home and hang your coat back up before laying onto the couch exhausted, you let out a heavy sigh hoping another slip up like that wouldn't happen, as you knew Zian only let it slide because he decided to switch jobs last minute.
You and Zian sat on the couch watching the news and eating popcorn, laughing at everyone freaking out at the crime scene for the night.
congrats pookie you just read 1150 words 🥳
