The Beginning

So son, are ya happy we're moving?" Yins' dad asked in an attempt to break the silence that had been plaguing the drive up to their new house.

"meh, I dunno." Yin said as he shrugged
"Oh come on bud!" his dad said as he took a quick glance at Yin before looking back to the highway, "It can't be that bad!"
Yin just sighed at his father's statement and continued to look out the window, silently watching the trees.

"Look, I know you had friends at school and all, but, hey look at it this way, this is a brand-new adventure for us, Your mother included." his father pointed out while putting tension on the word mother.

"I don't want another adventure. Besides I'm not a kid anymore. " Yin muttered as he remembered when he was 10 and would go on amazing adventures with his parental figures. Why can't things go back to the way they were? Yin thought as he began to slump in his seat

" Don't be like that old sport. " his dad exclaimed trying to lighten up his mood.

" Not that nickname again! " Yin groaned as he recalled a rather unpleasant incident relating to purple paint that he would not like to revisit.

" I still remember the day when you spilled a five-gallon bucket full of paint on you, couldn't get it off for a week! "
He laughed heartedly at the memories flooding through his brain, Yin on the other hand felt embarrassment and anger about the experience.

" The kids at school mocked me and gave me names like purple guy, aubergine man, and have for some reason! " Yin voiced angrily

" Shut your mouth boy. " his mother finally spoke up. " Do not talk to our son like that! " Yins dad raised his voice.
" Your. " she uttered as his dad was getting red with anger " He is as much of a son as he is mine, you witch!" Yin's dad spat as he clenched the steering wheel out of malice.

The next hour or so went on in silence,  the only noise coming from either the car or the heavy traffic near them. Before long Yin could feel his eyelids getting heavy and, as he started to drift into unconsciousness he wondered what life would have in store for him when he awoke
