3dr person POV:

Ego Jinpachi knew he was an eccentric man. He was fully aware of it and was unapologetic about it. Selfish much? He wouldn't care less. Heck, even his own parents wouldn't deny that. Although, despite knowing that, they would admit that his ambitions made up for his eccentricness and that has helped him accomplished many things even way back when he was younger.

Only, his world changed the moment his baby sister was born into his world. At 13 years old, Ego (Y/n) was born. From the moment his mother first announced the news, he was giddy over finally having a younger sibling. The expression doesn't show itself on his face, but on the inside, he was ecstatic. But of course, since he doesn't openly show much emotion, his parents were nervous that he didn't took the news well. He had to excuse himself in order to release his excitement in secret.

Ever since then he looked forward to the eventual day. He couldn't wait to teach her everything about soccer and show her the ropes through his amazing coaching skills. That's right, he was that confident.

However, it didn't went the way he envisioned.

Ego wasn't dumb. Not a single bit.

From the moment she was born to the early years of her life, she never cried, was always quiet and was simply distant and disconnected from everything/everyone around her. Even him. Obviously, his parents caught on and soon brought her to several doctors to figure out what was wrong with her. But, just like any other doctors visit, they all had the same response.

"Nothing is wrong with (y/n). It's most likely a phase. She'll grow out of it, eventually." They all said. Ego was obviously not happy with the answer. Thus called bullshit and proceeded to embarrass the doctors. He decided that if they can't help his little sister, he'll do it himself.

The thing was that, it was easier said then done. Because when the time comes were she spoke her first words, up to making full sentences. One way or another, her behavior only seem to have gotten more worrying. Anytime they would spent time together, he would try to get her into soccer by talking about said subject, But on this particular day, she looked at him with a look that screamed tired, "Jinpachi. What's the point of living?" she said to him. She was only five during that time.

He was beyond shocked and his heart broke in half that day as well.

The lifeless look in her eyes along with the unnatural tone it held when she made that comment, he remembered it all. There was so many emotions in those eyes of hers. It almost seemed like she wanted to elaborate more behind that statement, as if an unspoken story needed to be spilled. Like a person who had gone through the worse pain imaginable and simply needed someone to lend an ear. Ego knew right away, something wasn't right with (y/n). Considering she was too young for such concept to be of concern. It shouldn't be a concern in the first place.

But Ego made the mistake of thinking that it was due to (y/n) being five and that she was just saying whatever.

Therefore, he brushed it aside, believing it wasn't that big of deal and that her little brain just. fabricated some interesting stuffs for her to ask that kind of question. Plus, he find topic like that trivial and a waste of time. Therefore he disregard it completely in general. Thus, he resorts to doing the classic shoulder shrug, "I don't know why you'd ask me that." for a split second he saw a flash of disappointment, but it was swiftly covered by a ah from her before she got lost in her thoughts once more. "Why you asking?" Ego ask, out of curiosity. She, in return, gave him that same gesture he did not long ago, "I thought you'd know something, that's all. But thanks either way." he remembered how the room fell into a tense quietness.

That exchange lead him to ponder for a long time, still questioning why she'd ask him that. Unfortunately, with his brain filled with nothing but soccer added with being not really a fan of speaking to idiots. He decided to speak to the school nurse.
