“Okay, so. I’m going to teach you a few things I learned when I got bored.” Claudia said

Hannah snorted and sat up straight, turning the book so it faced her. She began reading as Claudia explained.

“When you don’t have the power of healing as an affinity, you can use whatever your affinity is as a substitute for preserving the soul, keeping it pure and safe. You can also use water to do some patch up work but unfortunately but you won’t be able to do a lot of what the actual healers can do like mend bones, revive people, blah blah blah.” Claudia said.

“What else can I do? Anything to actually be useful in this war?”

Claudia smiled at that.

“You’re useful in many ways already, Hannah. You just don’t know what yet. You have a big heart and in a time of need, that is going to be very helpful.” Claudia said

“Can I help out in any way?”

Sylia stood in the doorway. She was a unique vampire in that she had what they called birth markings. It was a marking that the tribal vampires had gotten from birth but only if they were born of a leader. Sylia’s father was the chief of the village, her mother a medicine woman. The markings were orange and twirled together down her arms, legs, and down her shoulders. It also crept up her neck from the shoulders as well but stopped right underneath her chin, the only mark on her face being that of the usual tribal painting.

But today she wore none of those tribal things. She walked in wearing white pants, black boots, and a black corset top that was tucked underneath a black jacket. The markings on her came together to form a heart shape right above her heart. Her brilliant blue eyes, pale skin, and blonde hair contrasted well with her markings.

“Your mother was a medicine woman, right?”

Sylia nodded.

“Then you probably know more about healing than I do. I can leave you two to this and go assist in any way I can with Zelda and Alison. They’re working on their psychic powers.” Claudia said.

Hannah nodded before Claudia left.

“You are the woman of the moon, are you not?”

“What?” Hannah asked as Sylia sat across from her.

“Let me see the wrist of your dominant hand.”

She outstretched her right hand and watched Sylia as she ran her finger tips over the wrist. She smiled.

“You are…were you born in a winter month, Hannah?”

Hannah nodded as a reply, wondering what she was getting at. Like, seriously…what the hell? Things weren’t weird enough?

“You are the moon child we have been waiting for, Hannah. As you become stronger in your powers, you will gain markings such as mine. They say they only belong to tribal vampires but in truth, the markings come from having great power. Great leadership, a strong firm yet loving way of doing things. They said one would come in my lifetime…my great grandparents gave a sun child a home.  He was born in July...but they said you would come. You would be many great titles. Queen, moon child, and priestess. You have no idea what this means…” Sylia said.

“No, not really. Want to try and clear it up for me?” Hannah asked.

“We must get started on your training as soon as possible. Where did Claudia leave off?”

Sebastian knew his father was sick. He knew his father was indefinitely going to die of whatever ailed him. It hit him so quickly that they doctors weren’t sure what to do…the royal doctors weren’t really much to look at but they certainly knew what they were doing. He let out a sigh. He didn’t want to rule…nobody really did. Could you blame them? It was too much responsibility. It mostly reminded him of Jennifer…
