In the following two months since their pleasure-filled week away in Washington State things had been going great with their relationship.. Well as great as it could be with Buck still holding back on his girl on how inadequate and intimidated he felt with regards to her family's money. He tried to talk to her, he did. But it never failed. Everytime Bucky attempted to broach the subject something would crop up or one of them would be called up for a mission. Never giving him the chance to lay it all out there so they could discuss why he would start acting strange whenever the topic of who was paying for what came up. He knew Aurora was aware something was bothering him but she wasn't the kind to pressure him into talking when wasn't ready. And then there was all of the stuff with her and Mathew's dad making it not as important as his failing health was, delaying things further.

Two weeks ago Richard Donahue suffered a severe heart attack while out on an inspection of a new fleet of planes that Donahue Aviation were about to launch. The stress of making sure everything was to his exacting standards. Compounded by his determination to hide his struggling heart from his wife, kids and his company it all had finally taken its toll on the poor man. In the middle of running a series of diagnostic tests on the new engine himself he'd collapsed to the horror of his test pilots as well as his terrified assistant. That's when it all came to light. And if it wasn't for the fact that Richard needed to be in a stress free environment Sylvia Donahue along with Stark, would have reamed him a new one for lying about what his cardiologist told him just before Christmas when he'd been having twinges in his chest.

Now home after a long week in the hospital, Richard was supposed to be taking it easy. But his mind was steadfastly on his planes. He could care less about shareholders' concerns or stock in his company falling a few points. All he wanted was to make sure that his planes flew the way he'd designed them, ensuring his legacy for his children and the future generations of Donahues. With Matt temporarily moving back home to help their parents on the homefront it eased some of the burdens and concerns Aurora felt but not by much. Her twin, while a great field agent, did not have the same head for the family business like his sister which meant that most of it fell on her shoulders to handle. Which is why Aurora had stepped back from her duties as a SHIELD agent and Avenger and into her father's role as acting CEO of Donahue Aviation until he was well enough to do more than walk unaided to the bathroom.

In this period of time obviously his girl's mind, as well as everyone else close to the family, was on making sure Richard stayed alive and healthy. So once again, not wanting to make things any harder on Aurora than it already was, Bucky kept things to himself. It's why he made sure that once she got home from a long day of putting out fires at the office and checking in on her dad, he had a hot meal waiting along with a cocktail so she could unwind. And if he was forced to be away from home Buck made sure Tony, Steve or someone took care of her for him. Of course no one would complain when he asked them to do it. They loved her like family and wanted to do whatever they could to help her out.

But then there were nights like tonight where dinner and a drink just couldn't ease the tension his girl carried so something else was called for. When Aurora came home this evening long after she should have been dealing with one crisis after another she'd picked a fight with him. Right away Buck could tell her mounting frustrations were getting the best of her. He could tell that fighting wasn't what she really wanted to be doing, but it was the only way she could deal in the moment knowing that he'd take care of her how she needed him to.

It started when he'd followed Aurora into her apartment after she ignored him when he saw her stalking down the hall from the elevator. Bewildered by her hostile silence Buck had barely saved his nose from getting broken by the door when she went to slam it closed in his face. Making sure to close the door with him on the inside of her apartment, he said, "Jeez doll, you nearly took my head off there."
