(Chapter forty-eight)

Five months later;

I was laying in bed, staring up at the ceiling. It's been five months since Mona almost killed me. Since we found out she's 'A'. Since Maya died. Everything felt off. This was the last day of summer and I was soo not ready for school.

I heard footsteps and saw that he stopped next to the bed, looking down at me. A worried look evident on his face.

"I'm leaving for work. You can stay as long as you want, there is food in the fridge." Jason claimed softly, and bent down and placed a soft kiss on the side of my head.

"Have a good day." I said, putting on a fake smile. I watched him walk out of the room and close the door behind him. I've been at his house for three days now. My parents think I'm at Spencers.

I turned on my side and pulled the duvet up to my neck. The girls want to have a sleepover tonight, so I still have a few hours before I have to get out of bed and try to make myself look more presentable. So I close my eyes and slowly drift off to sleep.

Aria, Spencer, and Hanna were sitting in Hanna's kitchen in front of Jason. He asked to meet up with them because he wanted to talk about Katherine. He was extreamly concerned about his girlfriend's physical and mental health. Emily was also feeling really down so they didn't want to worry her more.

She lost weight drastically, would stay in bed all day long but could barley sleep. He tried to help her but she refused, saying she's perfectly fine. At the beggining of summer he had to pick her up from multiple parties when she was so drunk she couldn't even stand. He never left her, he knew this was only a rough patch in her life and their relationship, and was hoping she'd be better soon.

Jason would do anything for Katherine. Anything.

The five girls were sitting in the Hastings household, having a sleepover and drinking while discussing their summer. If Jason hadn't come to see and talk to the girls about Katherine, they would have still noticed something was wrong.

Even tons of makeup couldn't cover the circles under the brunette's eyes and the baggy clothes couldn't hide her body. Katherine was always fit because of the sports, but now her already tiny figure was even smaller,thinner.

"Em, you and I are the only ones who did anything worth talking about during the summer. I mean, Aria took some boring picture class, Spencer went to collage and Katherine partied the whole summer away." Hanna claimed.

"I took a full load at Hollis and Aria beat out a thousand applicants for a space in that photography class." Spencer defended as she took a sip from her drink. All of us were drinking.
