It's been two weeks since Jensen and his men had rescued Eloise from Elijah's grasp and there were still no signs of her waking up. The minute they arrived at the hospital, Eloise was taken to surgery, leaving Jensen and his men to wait and pray that she would be okay.
Once surgery was over, a doctor came out to speak with Jensen, telling him that Eloise had lost a lot of blood and had slipped into a coma as a result. The list of injuries she had sustained at Elijah's hands was extensive, with broken ribs and fingers, a bad concussion, just to name a few. When Jensen heard the doctor listing the injuries, he wished he had taken his time with Elijah and made him feel what Eloise might've felt.
Jensen spent the next two weeks in the hospital. At one point, an overzealous nurse tried to have him leave, but when the look in his eyes told her that it was a bad idea for her to ever say anything about it again, no one told him he couldn't stay again. Afterall, this was the man that made generous donations to the hospital, not to mention that no one wanted to be on his bad side.
Every day Eloise's doctor would come by her room and test her to try and wake her, but with no success. She was in a deep coma and there was no telling when, or if, she was ever going to wake up. Jensen prayed every night for her to wake up.
Sitting on a chair next to her bed, Jensen held Eloise's hand and caressed it with his thumb, while his head was laying on the bed. He wished she would wake up and he could tell her what was in his heart. He heard a nurse coming in to check on her and he lifted his head.
- "How is she?" – He asked the nurse, hoping there had been some kind of change.
- "Her vitals are good and strong, but her condition hasn't changed."
- "Thank you."
- "She can hear you, you know?" - The young nurse spoke, before leaving.
- "I'm sorry?"
- "Miss Anderson, she can hear you. It's believed that people in a coma can hear what is happening around them, even if they can't answer. It has helped a lot of patients wake up just by listening to their loved ones talking to them. You should try." – And with that, the nurse left, giving him an encouraging smile.
Jensen didn't know where to begin or if he should even do it at all, but something inside of him told him that he needed to give it a shot.
- "I don't know if you can hear me, sweetheart, but the nurse says you can, so here goes nothing. Misha, David and Alex are okay. They're worried about you, but they're okay. When you left, they called the estate and a group of our guys went and got them. They are okay. The way you stabbed them wasn't too serious, but I guess that was your plan all along."
"Elijah's gone. And so are his men. We made sure of that. You should've seen our men. They were determined in freeing you. You should know that we only found you thanks to Rich and Rob. They were the ones who figured out where you were, sweetheart, and they, all of them, can't wait to see you. I'm getting calls and texts every day asking about you. When you wake up, I'm sure they're going to throw a party."
"When you wake up... You have to wake up, sweetheart. We can't do this without you... I can't do this without you. I don't want to. Please, wake up. Everyone misses you; I miss you. Please, I love you so much. I have loved you from the moment you called me a dickhead for saying that Jared was just a giant moose because of how uncoordinated he can be. Please, come back to us. Come back to me."
A few tears fell on his hand. He couldn't hold on any longer. Letting all of his fear and frustration out, Jensen cried until he had no more tears left. There was nothing he could do now, other than wait for Eloise to come back to him and, hopefully, give a real chance to the two of them to have something together.
