The car ride was silent and eerie with the gloomy weather and tense atmosphere. Yutaro sat across from his younger sister, Yui Komori, with his headphones in, though no music was playing.

Yui tried to start a conversation with Yutaro, whether it be to mock him or act scared (key word act), but he ignored her, pretending to listen to music in silence. He enjoyed the silence, and by the looks of it, it was going to rain soon. Yutaro was looking forward to the calming shower, even if he was with Yui.

Yutaro had no idea where he and his sister were going. He only knew that Seiji, his "father", was going on a business trip overseas, so he sent the siblings to an old friend of his, whatever that means. Yutaro, if he wasn't embarrassingly broke, could bet money that Yui knew more than him.

As eerie as the words "old friend" sounded, Yutaro doubted that the church would purposely allow them to go somewhere that could harm Yui, so he wasn't too worried about their destination.

The car the siblings were in was cold and dark, adding to the already tense feeling between the two. Even the driver could tell the two weren't close just by looking at them.

Yutaro was looking out the window with a disinterested expression on his face. As much as he wanted to pull his phone out and take a picture of the dark, yet beautiful weather, his bag was in the trunk.

After about five more minutes of listening to the bumps on the road and Yui trying to start a conversation with the driver, the car came to a silent stop in what seems to be the middle of nowhere.

When Yutaro realized the car had stopped, he took his earbuds out and glanced around curiously. At first, he didn't see anything besides the dark forest and gloomy clouds, until he finally spotted it.

There was a large, dark mansion that looked almost abandoned. There were beautiful red roses that decorated the fields, and even looked well-kept next to the old and bleak mansion it was covering.

While Yutaro looked at the mansion in slight confusion, Yui was very blatant about her obvious disgust. Her face was scrunched up with a frown, her eyes even slightly wide. He didn't understand how she could be so grossed out by a house, as if they weren't being invited to live there.

"This place? It looks uninhabitable!" Yui practically whined as she left the car. Yutaro was surprised she knew such a big word in that little brain of hers, but kept his comments to himself as he followed Yui out, sliding his earbuds in his pockets.

Yutaro stood outside of the car, his hand on the door as he looks at the large mansion in front of him. As much as his sister was disgusted, he couldn't help but think it was actually pretty cool. Big and dark, it was almost like a horror movie in real life.

Yutaro made his way to the trunk and grabbed his singular backpack, glancing at the mansion again, he couldn't help but look at it with its size and gloomy atmosphere.

"Yutaro, why don't you be a good big brother, and grab my bags for me, hm?" Yui asked in a sickly sweet, innocent tone, making Yutaro frown in slight disgust.

"You're not crippled, grab your own bag." Yutaro told her as he started walking to the door of the mansion.

Yui frowned in irritation, dropping her fake sweet smile, scoffing and grabbing her bags roughly, following Yutaro, huffing every step.

The car quickly drove away when the two started walking, not even offering a goodbye or farewell. Though, neither Yui or Yutaro questioned it.

As the two walked, they only got halfway before it started to rain gently. Yui, being the overdramatic teen she is, practically screeched and ran to the door as if it physically hurt her, while Yutaro merely hugged his bag to his chest so the things inside didn't get wet.

Yutaro had very few personal items that he had an emotional attachment to. Like his journal, camera, earbuds, his sewing kit, and his red nail polish. Not much, but he doesn't go anywhere without them. They were like the light of his life, and some have been for years.

As Yui finally reached the porch of the mansion, Yutaro was still at least ten steps behind her, his clothes and hair wet and dripping.

Yui scoffed at her brother when he saw he was so far behind, turning and raising her hand to knock, hesitating briefly. She had a weird feeling when she looked at the house. After a moment of complete silence beside the pattering rain, Yui finally knocked.

Knock, knock, knock

Just as Yutaro made his way to the porch, the giant door opened slowly, making him frown. "You do know it's illegal to break in, do you not?" He asked Yui with a raised brow, making her huff.

"I did not!" Yui said, crossing her arms. "It opened on its own." She finishes, making Yutaro stare at her with confusion. 'Maybe she's finally going insane.' He thought just as Yui walked in as if she owned the place.

Yutaro blinked in shock at Yui's audacity, not expecting her to just walk in without waiting for anyone. He knew she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but really?

After a moment of silence, Yutaro gave a deep sigh and started walking in, though he was slightly dripping on the surprisingly clean floors.

When Yutaro finally looked up, he saw how bright and luxurious the mansion actually was. The exterior did it no justice. He felt like he was in a medieval movie right now.

And as soon as he stepped away from the door, his eyes practically sparkling, the door slammed closed behind him, making him jump and stare at it with wide eyes.

"Huh." Yutaro said in a quiet voice. "Guess she's not as psycho as I thought."
