So this is it, my final race for this season. My car is tuned up to perfection and my skills are up to date. I do not feel anything when I am about to race. I only ask myself how I will speed through them all. 20 drivers including myself are all lined up in the streets of Tokyo to see who is the best driver of japan. The adrenaline of the speed and evading police is out of this world. The risks including my own life. It almost feels like... I need it.
The girls line up: "Ready!", I make myself comfortable in my seat. "Set!", I press down on the clutch and keep my revs up. "Go!", I drive off. Passing the first 3. Only 17 more to go. This is the longest and most demanding race of Japan. The finish line? At the tokyo tower. as my race goes on I see lights. But they were not ordinary lights. Shit, Cops. I press down on my gas pedal and feel myself being pushed into the seat from the speed. I check my speed. 280 km/h. Not fast enough. The police cancel out on the pursuit and next thing I know is, I am in first place.
I see a car getting closer to me through my rear mirrors. I ease up. I tend to stay relaxed when it gets stressful. Boom. We collide with each other and crash.
I see nothing. Nothing but a white light. Am I? No, it can't be, can it? I hear a female voice that sound very close to me. "Please, open your eyes. I love you. Don't leave me like this". I manage to wake up and I see this girl. I can't remember her at the moment but she seems so familiar. Hanako. A childhood friend of mine. She cries: "How the fuck could you?". I stay silent. "You could have died back there! Do you have any idea how worried I was!". The only thing that pops up in my mind when I remember her is that I had told her that I race. I ask: "Did you just confess to me?", teasing her. "Jouto, this is really not the time for this", she replies still in tears. "I love you okay, so how dare you try to leave me this way?". She helped me through my recovery process as, wait. As my girlfriend?
I still wonder why she loves me, or how she could be fine with what I do. Maybe she is not not but would she tell me if she did not?
