Kaminari opened his door, surprised to see his friends standing on the other side.
"Dude, where the hell have you been? You haven't answered any of us in two days." They always tried to understand and give Kaminari space if he needed it, but they were worried. He'd been shutting himself away since Katsu left, and they weren't sure when to intervene.
After not hearing from him for two days, they figured now would be a good time.
Kaminari has his date with Shinso in an hour, and they didn't know. He didn't tell them that they met for dinner last week. He wanted to keep it to himself. As he got closer to today, he got more anxious and started shutting everyone out.
"I'm alive." Kaminari held up his arms to show his friends he was doing okay. "I've just had a lot on my mind."
"Can we come in?" Kirishima asked. Kaminari took a step back to let them in.
"You guys can't stay long, though. I have plans in about an hour," he said.
"It's Katsu back in town?" Other than the four of them, Kaminari only made plans with Katsu. As far as they know, he hadn't been back in town for a few weeks.
"No, uh," he stopped talking. He didn't know how to tell them he had a date with Shinso. Would they be okay with it? Would they judge him or yell at him? He wasn't sure. They knew what he went through because of Shinso.
"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to," Midoriya said before sharing a concerned look with Kirishima.
"I think I do, actually. I'm just not sure how it's going to go." Kaminari led everyone to the living room before plopping down on the couch. He waited for everyone else to take a seat before continuing. He felt awkward with everyone standing around him. "I'm going on a date."
"Oh, you met someone?" They weren't sure why he would be so worried about telling them that.
He shook his head before taking a breath and saying, "I'm going out with Hitoshi."
The room fell silent as everyone processed what he said. The man that hurt him so bad that he almost ended his life. They had stayed in contact with Shinso and knew he was better. Still, they saw what he did to Kaminari. "I finally texted him last week after months of silence. We ended up getting dinner, and it was nice."
"And that resulted in you going on a date?" Sero questioned with a cocked brow. "Tonight?"
Kaminari nodded. "He said he wants to take me on a real date like he should have a long time ago. Guys, I know you're worried. A part of me is still worried, but this is what I always wanted. I didn't want a relationship with Katsu or anyone else. I wanted Hitoshi back. And if I have that chance, I would be stupid not to try."
"Dude, do whatever makes you happy. You don't need our approval. You know we've got your back through whatever," Kirishima said. He just wanted his best friend to be happy. Although he thought he was going to be happy with Katsu. A part of him believes he might have been if Shinso never showed up with that letter.
"Just promise us that if it doesn't go well and you have urges of any kind, you'll reach out. We care about you, Kami. We'll support you in any way we can, but we also want to make sure you're okay," Midoriya said.
"If you want to give him a second chance, we'll support you. But if he fucks it up again, I won't be as forgiving." Bakugo may be the one who feels detached and uninterested. But he is the one that would beat the shit out of anybody for the people he cares about.
"And on another topic, do you know where he's taking you?" Sero asked.
Kaminari nodded. "Nothing too fancy. We're going to grab a bite to eat, then head to the arcade for a bit." It might not seem much of a date to a lot of other people, but it sounded perfect to Kaminari. Shinso could have told him they would walk around the block for five hours, and he would have been excited. Kaminari loves the arcade. Shinso always promised to take him, but he never did.
