"RUN!" I scream. Both Hayley and I take off down the road, getting closer and closer to Kimiko by the second.
The smell of smoke and destruction travels through the air and into my lungs. My feet slam against the burning grass over and over again as I continue to run away from the red and orange monster turning nature into ashes.
"Stop running." Kimiko demands as we catch up to her.
"But...why?" I ask between deep breaths.
"Because we're dead." She answers. "What the hell can a fire do to us? Kill us? It's kind of too late for that."
"I'm out of here." Hayley says after she catches her breath. "We might not die, but I don't want to spend the rest of my afterlife as a pile of ashes."
"Hayley, get back here right now." Kimiko says sternly through bared teeth. Hayley ignores the demand and continues to run down the green field. "Hayley, I'm not playing with you. Get back here right. Now." Kimiko is boiling with anger now. she balls her hands into fists as her whole body shakes with rage right before she explodes with fury. "HAYLEY, WHEN I SAY GET BACK HERE I MEAN GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE RIGHT NOW."
Violent jerks shakes the ground as her voice booms over the horizon. "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE LISTEN TO ME?" Kimiko asks while stomping in the direction of the fire. As she turns back around to face me, I see the anger burning in her red glowing eyes, shaking her troubled soul.
Oh my God
She's the one making this fire.
"Kimiko, stop!" Hayley screams. Tears streak down her face as she stares down the angry young woman before her.
A powerful gust of wind sweeps over our head and dances with the flames as heavy, cold rain attacks the fire. "I don't want to do this, but you give me no choice."
"What the hell is going on?" I ask no one in particular.
"Take cover, Shane." Hayley commands.
"But-"
"JUST DO IT!" She yells over the powerful storm. I immediately dive to the ground and place my hands protectively over my head like a tornado drill at school. At that same time, thunder booms through the sky, ringing in my ears and furiously shaking the ground.
"STOP IT!" They both scream at each other. I stand up and open my eyes but it makes no difference. Its too dark to even see my own hand in front of me as the wind smacks me back down to the muddy ground while the rain soaks my clothes.
All of a sudden, a low but powerful grumble erupts the already shaking ground. An intense sharp pain travels through the back of my head as I slip out of consciousness.
This was short and probably a little confusing but it'll all make sense in the next chapter. Sorry for the long wait. I've been trying to get a few things straightened out in my life but I'm back now!
(P.S. srry for grammar problems. I'm typing from my phone and auto correction sucks)
