He untied his apron and hung it neatly on the rack near the wide glass window panel of the kitchen. The sky outside was patterned with dark grey stormy clouds. It was drizzling softly and a few stray water droplets were skidding along the surface of the glass window. It was simply a beautiful morning.
He looked around himself once more and let out a pleased hum, satisfied with his work of cleaning the kitchen. During childhood, Atsumu had always been distant from this space of their house, unlike his brother. Partly because of inexperience and mostly due to his disinterest in cooking.
But after spending hours on video calls with Osamu to learn how not to die of hunger during his bachelor days, Atsumu could admit that this place didn't feel as unfamiliar anymore. At times, it was peaceful even. Not to mention his movements here were more fluid than that of the rookie he once was. He hasn't become a culinary chef or anything like his brother. He never had a talent of that sort, to begin with. But he had learned to prepare a few delicious dishes from him over these years. Atsumu was quite proud of it.
'It feels amazing to see people enjoy the food that you have prepared with love and hard work.' Atsumu always used to think that these words of his brother were total bullcrap. That was until he started cooking not only for himself but for his husband too. And then only he came to realize the truth behind those words.
It was the sudden loud rumble of the motor of the refrigerator that brought him back to the present moment. He moved towards the sink and splashed his face with cool water to clean off the sheen of sweat. He raked the same wet fingers through his unruly blond locks to tame them a bit. Once properly dried off, he took out his phone from the pocket of his sweatpants.
"Damn! It's half past nine already. He must be coming downstairs any minute now."
He checked himself out in the camera of his phone. Once he deemed his appearance presentable enough, Atsumu switched to his Instagram app and started a live video. Within a matter of moments, he had thousands of people watching his live feed.
"Hey, guys! Good morning ta all of ya. I hope yer all having a great day so far and if ya don't then ya can watch one of MSBY's recent matches. Even though we bagged the match against Cheegle Ekaterinburg, it was certainly not an easy win."
He grinned placing his elbows on the granite countertop that he scrubbed clean not even fifteen minutes ago. "Yaku-san, my pals and I are patiently waiting ta have yer special spicy curry on yer next visit ta Japan."
"Also I wanna thank my followers for their donations on our last MSBY live. The donated amount is going ta help so many young talented kids ta take one step ahead in fulfilling their volleyball dreams." Atsumu glanced at the flood of hearts and comments showing on the live window. It made him feel warm from within.
The smile on his husband's face when Atsumu returned home after doing that live was filled with pride and love. 'You did well. I am so proud of you' Tobio had said. His heart fluttered suddenly just remembering all the gentle kisses and hugs he received afterward. Not that it wasn't a common occurrence in their household. More often than not they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. But the proud gaze those sapphire eyes held for Atsumu that day felt strangely like an accomplishment.
Thinking about the other brought his attention back to the task at hand. He flashed his signature swoon-worthy smile at the camera. "Imma be clear, I have never shied away from doing fun challenges before. I would say I am a pretty adventurous guy myself. But today's challenge is....." The blond heaved a sigh feeling a little unsure of the appropriateness of the idea.
"Well, a lot of my followers on here and on Twitter have been asking me ta do this challenge where partners have ta swerve their significant other's kisses and record their reaction to it."
