"What's that thing the kids say?" Grant asks.
"We ate them up." Max says.
Everyone laughs and I hear a knock on the doors.
"Everybody decent?" I ask looking around.
Everyone nods and I open the door.
"Hey, Jr." Hailee says.
"Hey." I say.
"You did good out there." Hailee says.
"Thank you." I say.
"Text me when you're ready to hangout." Hailee says.
"I will." I say.
Hailee kisses me and everyone 'oohs'.
"Oh fuck off." I say.
Hailee laughs and leaves.
"Alright everybody, hit the showers." Coach Mike says.
Everyone disperses and dad walks over to me.
"I thought I told you-" Dad says.
"I know that you told me. But it's impossible for me to turn off my feelings, especially for someone like her." I say.
"How are you gonna explain it to her when Tucker is no more?" Dad asks.
"I'll figure that out." I say.
"You're a grown woman so I'll let you make decisions for yourself but I might not be able to help you if it comes falling down on you." Dad says.
I nod and he sighs.
"Go home, shower, and go spend some time with your girl." Dad says.
I smile and grab my duffel bag.

"Congratulations on your first win." Hailee says.
"Couldn't have done it without your pep talk." I say.
"I may have given you a pep talk but you were running fast as hell. I swear I saw the grass light on a fire for a minute." Hailee says.
I laugh and Hailee smiles.
"Can I be honest with you?" Hailee asks.
"Please do." I say.
"I like you a lot, Tucker. So much more than you know. And I know you're gonna be traveling a lot but I wanna make this work." Hailee says.
"I'll make time for you." I say.
Hailee smiles and I kiss her.
