2000

As a helicopter soared above the iconic Hollywood sign, news spread about a major collision on the busy Hollywood Freeway, stretching from Vine Street to the Valley. Anyone caught in the chaos would face an extensive delay if they desired to reach their destination.

Amidst the sea of vehicles lining the highway, a distinctive car belonged to Cotton Weary, a renowned celebrity. Engrossed in conversation with his casting agent through the car phone, he abruptly received an incoming call on his mobile phone.

Cotton Weary, the charismatic host of his own talk show and a recent cameo star in the low-budget slasher film "Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro," wrapped up his conversation with his casting agent on the car phone. Intrigued by the call on his mobile phone, he decided to switch gears and engage with the caller.

A woman greeted Cotton on the other end, exuding a flirtatious energy that he couldn't help but reciprocate. Enjoying the playful banter, Cotton's amusement quickly faded as the woman's voice took on a disorienting and eerily familiar tone.

To his shock, the voice began taunting him, mentioning his girlfriend and threatening her life. The mysterious stranger demanded that Cotton disclose the whereabouts of Sidney Prescott if he wanted his girlfriend to survive.

Instead of succumbing to fear, Cotton mustered his courage and retaliated, issuing a stern warning to the enigmatic caller. However, unbeknownst to him, this act of defiance would prove to be a grave mistake.

In the heart of downtown Hollywood, Cotton's girlfriend, Christine, emerged from the refreshing shower and swiftly dressed herself. As she went about her business, she couldn't help but notice peculiar sounds echoing through the house. To her dismay, she soon found herself face-to-face with a mysterious stranger donning a chillingly unique killer costume.

Strangely enough, the stranger's voice bore an uncanny resemblance to Cotton's, leading Christine to momentarily mistake the intruder for her boyfriend. Filled with anxiety, she hurriedly sought refuge in Cotton's office, barricading herself inside to ensure her safety.

Meanwhile, outside the house, Cotton arrived in a state of panic. His frantic demeanour was evident as he scoured every room, clutching a fire poker tightly in his hand. His desperate search for Christine eventually led him to his office door, which bore the marks of five deep knife wounds.

Filled with concern for Christine's safety, Cotton sprinted towards the office door, channelling all his strength to forcefully break it open with his shoulder. As he burst into the room, he was met with an unexpected blow as Christine swung a golf club, her fear clouding her judgment.

In a desperate attempt to communicate and warn Christine about the approaching killer, Cotton pleaded with her, but her distress caused her to lash out once again, striking him in the face. Tragically, in her backing away, she unwittingly stumbled directly into the path of the killer's knife.

A piercing scream escaped Christine's lips as the blade pierced her, and she collapsed lifelessly onto the floor. Realizing the imminent danger he was in, Cotton fought through the pain and attempted to rise to his feet.

However, the relentless killer swiftly slashed his arms, forcing him to retreat, blood staining his path. In a last-ditch effort to buy himself some time, Cotton hurled his office chair towards the assailant, hoping to momentarily distract him.

As Cotton desperately searched for an escape route, he realized that the windows were locked tightly, denying him the chance to flee. Before he could react, the killer lunged towards him, intending to strike.

However, Cotton swiftly countered, seizing the assailant's wrist and forcefully shoving him into a nearby bookcase. The impact caused the bookcase to topple, trapping the killer beneath its weight.
