Chapter 7: Revive the NUFAME project

My worries about his attitude or behavior amplified my desire for a revenge, within few days I found myself travelling to Calisthenes, I sneaked into the presidential building of Calisthenes, though I sneaked in successfully (A master of sneaking-in taught me well! And his name is Prince), upon my arrival at the presidential villa. I overheard the voice of Prince and his father, so I decided to get some intel.

"How is your relationship with that wonder-girl?" Mr. Benjamin asked.

"Quite well, except for her resistance to my tactics of..." Prince was saying, but he got interrupted by his father.

"I don't care to know what you do to make her vulnerable, just make sure she falls in love with you..."

When I heard those last words of his, my heart skipped a beat, and I made a crack-like sound on the floor with my feet, then next thing I heard was, "Busted!"

Within few minutes, I was handcuffed by the security aides in the building and put at the front of Prince and his father. Prince smirked at me, but his father seemed to care less.

"Release her! I perceive she would like to have some time alone with my son." His father said, and then he left with his security aides, I and Prince were now alone in the mighty office.

We were silent for a little while, but my mouth would not stay silent for long.

"What are your plans?" I asked sternly.

"You!" He simply replied.

"I don't understand." I responded.

"You don't need to. I assure you, very soon enough, you will be in love with me." He said with an arrogant smile.

My indifferent and unbothered self nearly lost its comportment, but I had a better plan in mind, or so I thought.

"Why don't we do something together? The NUFAME project will be a good challenge, you know?" I replied with sarcasm.

When he heard the word "NUFAME", he was a little bit frightened, but when he noticed my sarcasm, he gave an arrogant smile and a life-changing response.

"We can do it together. We can destroy the world together."

Yeah! He was right in a sense, because the NUFAME project was about the manufacturing of a nuclear bomb. This project destroyed the city of the Western Sun and killed my dad. I was unsure of going ahead at this point, but my real motive of the project was to try to prove a silly point, 'He would be the one to fall in love with me first!'. At this point, you have to forgive my sinister and arrogant self, I was still a new babe in Christ, so-so... I did not really give the consequences much thought.

(NUFAME means Nuclear Fusion Antimatter Experiment.)

"We will do the project in Sosthenes and Calisthenes. We will be switching countries every week." I said to Prince, as I was leaving the presidential villa of Calisthenes.

We started the project in Sosthenes and then after one week, we continued the project in Calisthenes for a week, then came back to Sosthenes for a week and vice versa. In other words, we were sneaking into each other's country every week until the project was done.

I tried to seek help from Mr. Parker and my uncle to know how to start the project, but that was a right step in the wrong direction.

When I told Mr. Parker about the NUFAME project, he was totally taken aback.

"Deborah! Are you serious?" He replied.

"Yeah, I am dead serious!" I responded with a partial smile, (I was actually trying to hide a smile, I did not want him to take my enquiry as a joke).

"You seem serious... but I want you to be very careful, you need antimatter and..." He paused and gave me a very careful look. Then he continued with a sigh, "Don't try to embark on that project."

"Excuse me!" I replied in bewilderment.

"I don't know what your main motive is, but I know you don't want to devour the lives of innocent people and their property." He responded.

"I will still go on with it, whether you like it or not." I replied with pure enthusiasm.

"Very well. But remember this! The fact that God has spared your life from very dangerous moments... does not mean you should put Him to the test! Besides, life is not all about you, never forget!" He responded in a very calm manner.

His words haunted me for a night, then Prince sneaked into the villa the following day, and my zeal to prove to Prince of the stuff I am made up received more strength!

I and Prince had to work hard together in the evening and night to begin and execute this project. Fortunately enough, we were able to complete this high-risk project successfully, and this time I believe we succeeded with the help of God, because the project was a one of extreme danger, even though I and Prince were truly geniuses in our own right.

Nevertheless, my dad died because of this project, and there would have been another disaster as we were trying to work on the project. It would have been another destructive explosion in the history of Europe, because the laboratory I and Prince used in Calisthenes looked like a shack, the laboratory was not really equipped for this kind of high-risk project, especially when compared to the one we both used in Sosthenes. The Sosthenian Central laboratory was very equipped and specialised for this kind of project. Besides that! I think, we were doing the wrong thing at the beginning, because when my dad was trying to control the experiment, the experiment instead got out of control and a huge explosion was the result, so instead of controlling the experiment, we just let the experiment remain barely controlled, we applied our knowledge of mathematics and physics correctly and hoped that everything will work out fine. And it did!

The NUFAME project gave us the privilege of knowing each other better, though Prince was flirtatious sometimes, yet my outward self remained unfazed. I must admit that I was actually mentally affected by his advances, but I ensured we finished the project together, because I wanted to prove him and his father wrong. I believed I was not going to fall in love, because it was more hinged on my decision than on my hormones.
