A council is gathered in the training field. A large table is placed at the center at the head of it sits Killian and I with Hao and Elise to my right, Mike, Colt, and Orion on Killian's side.

At the other ends sits Dad, Benny, Lito, Alister and Felix. Dad straightens up in his seat letting out a deep sigh. He looks exhausted.

"Your Grace," Dad tilts his head to meet Hao's gaze, "I understand that this may be difficult for you to discuss."

"I appreciate your concern, Emissary." Dad says offering a soft smile. "It is no secret that we're here to discuss the defilement of both my wife and brother."

Alister winces as if struck. His jaw clenched tight he speaks, "What news have we been able to gather?"

"Well after yesterday's," Hao thinks over his wording a moment, "events , Orion and I took a journey back to see if Tech Duinn was truly destroyed. Luckily it is not."

"That's good right?" Felix asks.

"Not quite." Orion says, waving their hand , creating a sort of simulation. "Although Katia didn't fully destroy it, she did cause a substantial amount of damage."

"Meaning?" Mike swats Colt.

"It means that the beacon is on its final legs." Orion says. "Within the next seventy-two hours it's going to reach critical. We need to do what we can to contain it."

"What happens if we don't?" I ask.

"Mergers." Hao answers.

"Mergers? You can't be serious." Killian growls out.

"Unfortunately, Alpha, he is." Benny says. "Tech Duinn is what's keeping the realms separate."

"Why do you think it's called 'The Place where Souls Gather'? Everything is connected there." Mike says.

"Okay," Dad commands everyone's attention. "Bennett you will assist Orion in securing the beacon."

"Of course, Your Grace."

We sit in silence for a moment before, Lito surprisingly decides to speak up.

"I don't wish to discuss it anymore than anybody else, but we must address the Goliath in the room." He says testing the waters.

"What to do about Cartrite and Mom," I say, feeling a tinge of pain in my gut.

"Luna," I catch the gaze of Elise, "With your permission I could lead a group of Omegas out to track them."

"It'd be pointless." Alister speaks. "They're both Elite Hunters, members of the Royal family. They'd kill you before you even had the chance."

Although correct his tone is harsh. Especially for Alister.

"Is there an issue, Elder?" Dad asks, I assume catching the emotions flooding from his person.

"You know as I do what the issue is." He growls. "We sit around discussing course of action while my mate and your wife are out there alive! We should be out there and bringing them back home."

"Papa," Colt says softly, "we are not the enemy here."

"Are you saying he is?" Everyone looks to Colt. His face going red as his stare intensifies on his father.

"I miss Mom." He says sternly. "You've no right to lash out at us because you failed to process your grief."

"Colt!" Killian growls, "Into the house now." Colt growls but pushes away from the table.

"Leave him be for some time," I tell Killian, resting my hand into his. "We shouldn't fight amongst each other." I say to the group.

I stare into Dad's eyes that same flood of guilt rising once again.
