cassidy's pov:

"that's all of it." my best friend smiles at me with a tear rolling down her cheek.

"oh molly don't cry!" i hug her tight as i stare at my car packed full of my stuff, reconsidering my choices. but i have to do this. for me.

"oh wait. i forgot one more thing inside." i say as i rush back into my house.

i walk into my room and walk into my closet. i grab the small locked box and the key that goes with it. this box may be small, but there's much bigger things in here. i always kept it locked for a reason.

i look around my room one more time.

i head back outside to my car and put it in the backseat.

"i'll call you everyday i promise. i'm always just a four hour drive away." i open my car door and hop inside.

she lays her arms on the car door. "yeah only four hours." she says sarcastically. "i love you, make good choices!"

"i won't!" i shout while driving away.

moving away from my hometown may be the worst or best thing that's going to happen for me. i need a fresh start. away from him...

the gps says i'm two minutes away. i decide i should explore the town first before i check out my apartment. good thing it's may, i'm just in time for summer.

i'm surprised i got such a good deal on the apartment since it is right on the beach. i can't wait to wake up every morning to the ocean.

i roll my windows down and let the salt water air flow through my hair.

i finally find a parking lot after searching for a while. i park my car and step out and breathe in the fresh cape cod air.

my whole life i grew up in manhattan. not everyone's ideal place to live, but it wasn't too terrible. for me at least.

my dream ever since i was a little kid was to live by the beach. now, i'm right on it. little me is happier than ever. i'm happier than ever.

i spot a farmers market not far down the road. the vibe here is so different from what i'm used to. it's a good different. the people here are so calm, nice, the streets aren't too busy. i already love it here.

i go from stand to stand collecting a few fruits and cute items. i head back to my car and drive to my new apartment.

wow this complex is beautiful. it's a small complex with only seven floors. one bedroom and two bathrooms.

i get out of my car and walk on the little pathway to the beach.

i plop down on the sand. i pull my knees to my chest feeling happy. this is a new chapter.

i pull out my phone and snap a picture of the water and send it to molly. she immediately the responds. i smile at her text.

molly: i wish i was there with you

me: me too :)

i put my phone away and observe my surroundings for a while. the sun is starting to set. i should go back.

i look at my fully packed car wondering how the hell i'm going to get all of this shit inside. i decide i should go check out my apartment first. i grab my suitcase just so i can have some clothes for now.

i walk inside to the lobby. there's chairs to sit and hangout in, a ping pong table along with other games.

i look around the corner and see the pool outside. the pool is surprisingly big with a wonderful view of the ocean. i will definitely be here tonight.

i pick up my keys from my box. i look at the keys in excitement.

i go into the elevator and press 4. i find room 21. the door unlocks and i slowly open it. wow. its very spacious in here. i take a quick look around. i can't wait for this to be my home.

i look out the window and see the beautiful sunset. i quickly throw on my bathing suit and grab my towel and head to the pool. luckily, there's no one here.

i put my stuff down on a chair and go in. the water is warm and relaxing. i swim until the sun fully sets.

i get out and wrap my towel around me. i get into the elevator along with two other guys that definitely look like their frat boys. they look around my age.

"hey, you new here?" one of them asks.

"yeah i just moved here today actually." i smile.

"oh that's sick." the other one says.

the elevator reaches my floor and the doors open. "we'll see ya around." they both wave.

i wave back. i unlock my door and lock eyes with a random man sitting on my couch. i scream out of scaredness.

"excuse me. what are you doing in here?" i ask. he is oddly good looking and i don't like it.

he looks me up and down. "what am i doing in here? i should be asking you the same thing. this is my apartment."

"that can't be right. this is my apartment." i hold up the key.

we both look at each other in confusion.

"i just moved in two days ago."

i cross my arms. "how do i know you're not lying. you could've broken in. you could murder me right now."

"relax, i have proof." he gets up and hands me papers with his signature and his key.

"this can't be right. i picked up my keys today."

he observes me for a moment. "who sold you this place?"

"i think his name was nick brown."

"fuck." he shouts out. the random man starts pacing around with his hands buried in his face. "he was my seller too."

shit. "no wonder i got this place for such a good price." i sigh. "we should contact him."

i pull out my phone and search for his contact. i stare at it in disbelief. "he blocked me."

"you're joking." he comes over to me and i show him my phone. wow does he tower over me.

he pulls out his phone as well. "fuck he blocked me too."

"now what."

"i don't fucking know! i can't believe this shit is happening." he shouts.

i'm taken back by it. "can you calm down please. this isn't easy for me either. i don't even know your first name."

"mitchel." he says bluntly. he stares at me waiting for me to say something.

"i'm cassidy." i smile slightly.

"okay cassidy, well i'm hungry so do you want to get food somewhere and we can sort this mess out."

"sounds good, i'll get changed."
