Prologue

Valencia Deluca stared out upwards at the window that was fogged up and locked shut preventing her from escaping.

She looked down twirling her ring around as she thought about her husband Armando, she'd lost count on how long she'd been away from him.

The dried-up blood that stained her thighs reminded her of what had transpired earlier that day, her thoughts drifted to her kids.

Afonso watched Valencia sit in the corner of the room, hoping he'd managed to finally get her pregnant; he'd been waiting to have her for a long time.

He was angry at the fact that she'd given herself away to that man emotionally, physically and mentally, he had to punish her for her wrongdoings.

7 months later

Sweat dripped from Valencia's face as her face contorted in pain.

"Please let me hold them." she cried as abel cradled the small baby in a corner hiding it from her eyes.

A wailing alarm sounded throughout the building as Afonso rushed off in terror of being caught by the Italian mafia.

Valencia's eyes blurred as Armando's frantic eyes met hers. Her bottom lip trembled at the sight of her husband as he lifted her into his arms.

"I'm so sorry it took me so long to find you vita mia." He whispered, caressing her cheek.

(vita mia- my life)

Armada removed the hair from his wife's face as his eyes drifted to the beads of sweat that lay against her skin and the blood that was in between her legs which caused his eyes to furrow in confusion.

He hoped it wasn't what he thought it was.

Hours later

Valencia blinked slowly as she tried to adjust her eyes to the light, she looked around and her eyes settled on Armando, her husband.

"Armando." her voice croaked out as he looked up from his thoughts and rushed to her.

"Vita mia." he said softly as if he was about to cry.

Valencia sighed happily that she was back with her husband, but then thought about the events that took place with the Brazilian Mafia, they were their greatest enemies.

"My love." she said softly, as her eyes watered as she told him everything that man had did to her.

By the time she was finished Armando was crying, "And the child, vita mia?" he questioned wondering what state the child was in.

"I don't know, the baby was born early and he took them away before I could even look. I don't even know the gender."

"We'll find them, I promise my love." he said assuredly as Valencia dozed off into a dreamless sleep.
