Mera bachpan ka ashiq and mangater! My foot! I looked at Noor giving her a death glare before taking my food, phone and all the things I bought and got up to leave.

"Oye! I was just teasing! Ruk na." she held my wrist and turned me around.

"Kya hai? Aur woh mera mangater nahi hai!" I screamed in her face. Everyone stopped whate they were doing at started looking at us. I looked around and gave them a "what" look and they quickly looked away.

Noor's eyes deepened. "Tere khene say kya hota hai? Tum usse shadi karna chaho ya nahi, but you know you will have to. Tumhare dad ki last wish thi tumhari shadi unke best friend ke bete(son) sey ho..." She whispered. I wanted to say something but it seemed like my words were stuck in my throat. She was right, it was his last wish. "Wont you do that for your Dad?" she placed a hand under my chin and I didn't know what to say or do.

I looked away. "Let's go we're getting late." I hurried and changed the topic and Noor nodded.

Amna' mom's pov

"Assalaamu 'Alaikum Bhabi. How are you?" I asked Shehry's mom over the phone.

"Walekum assalam bhabi. I'm fine. How are you? Meri bahu and Allu?" she asked.

"All are fine Alhamdulillah. And I called to talk about your bahu." I told her.

"Khariat? Is everything okay?" she asked concerned.

"Yeah, yeah everything is fine." I assured her. "Woh remember I told you that Amna ki University students with 90 and above will be sent to America for training."

"Yeah, I remember. Kya hua?" she asked.

"kua yeh.... That she got a 98 in her finals and she got accepted to her trip to America! She will be train for 2 years there! Aur flight is 2 days!" I announced excitedly.

"Kya?! Really?! Masha Allah! Chalo I will finally see my soon-to-be-in-bahu soon then." She replied. "Can't wait to tell everyone about this." She hurriedly stated and I agreed.

"News baatani thi so bata di. Ab mein aap se Amna ke America punch ne ke baad baat karungi. Allah hafiz." I said and we hung up.

A few seconds later, the door opened, welcoming Amna with her hands full of bags.

"Pura ka pura bazaar khareed liya hai kya?" I asked her upon seeing more bags making their way towards me.

"Nahi. Only bought the things I will need there." She explained

"Looks like you will need a lot then." I commented and she smiled.

"Acha come to my room when you are done. I need to talk to you." I instructed her and she nodded.

I went upstairs in my room and waited for her. Soon enough, I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I said and Amna walked in.

"Jee Ami." She said and I stayed silent as I didn't know how to start.

I gestured her to sit in front of me on the bed and she made her way towards me and sat.

"Um... I don't know how to start." I told her honestly.

"Ami, what happened tell me na." she urged.

I stayed silent and then finally spoke.

"Beta, I'm sure what your dad's last wish was, right?" I asked her and the concern on her face turned into a frown.

"Mom we've talked about this. I don't want to hear it." She said and I could feel her getting annoyed.

"Regardless of us talking about this before or not, listen to me." I commanded. "Shehryar and his family also live in Texas." I paused and searched for an expression but found "so-what-do-you-want-me-to-do" look on her face. Ignoring that face, I continued. "So I want you to meet him there and get to know each other. And then -" "What the heck Ami? Know him? For what? Know him or not, shadi tu ussi se honi hai na meri. Does it matter if I know him?" Amna interrupted me.

"Yes it matters! Knowing each other is important!" I raised my voice. "Beta, I know it's not fair that you have to fulfill your dad's wish by marring someone you don't know. I know, I get that. But I also know that he is a very nice guy-"

"You've met him before?" Amna interrupted me again. Her eyes wide as she asked.

"No but I know that because- "

"You haven't even met that guy and you say he a "nice guy" . Like what the heck?" I was interrupted for the third time before I could complete my sentence.

"Will you please let me talk?" I yelled. "This is the third time you have interrupted me without letting me talk! Listen and then speak. Geez!" I exclaimed.

"Sorry, continue." She apologized.

"As I was saying, Bhabi told me all his about achievements, goals and everything he does. She told me about his likes and dislikes and everything. By the way she talks about him, I can tell he indeed is a nice guy. Just give him a chance." I finished.

Amna's pov

"Just give him a chance." Mom finished.

Chance. I haven't even seen him or talked to him in 14 years! How do you expect me to just give him a chance like that?

I didn't know what to say or how to respond to that so I just nodded still knowing that I will not like this Shehryar one bit. "Maybe he isn't that bad Amna. Maybe you are just overreacting. Chill and maybe mom is right. Give him a chance". My insides spoke to me. Gosh how much do I hate it when they are right. Maybe I am overreacting.

"I think you are right Mom. Maybe I am overreacting. I should give him a chance." I said looking into her eyes and saw them softening and moistening. "Aur allu ki bhi Shadi kara liye ga. Moti meri barbadi pe khush hoti hain." I added and she laughed. She patted her laps indicating me lay on them.

"Kuch zaada hi pyaar nahi araha hai aj?" I joked and put my head on her laps. She playfully hit my head and said, "I'm so proud of you." I smiled and closed my eyes absorbing this moment.

See you in Texas Mr. Shehryar Asif.
