~Aliana's POV~

I opened my eyes, unable to sleep tonight. I tossed and turned in my bed, getting myself tangled in the sheets. Sighing, I tried to wiggle out of them, hitting my head off of my bedside table in the process.

"Damn it." I groaned as I reached up and gingerly touched the soft spot with my hand. I heard the door open and Chancellor Jaha's voice moments later.

"What's going on?" Came my father's curious voice. I quickly untangled myself from my sheets and crept over to the archway, listening in on their conversation, a thing that had become a normal thing for me to do.

"The oxygen in Mecha Station is dropping quickly. People are rioting." Came Jaha's response, his voice shaky. "I need you to get Jake Griffin while I go calm them down."

"Alright." It was only a few seconds later that the door closed and I came out from my room, acting like I had just woken up. "What're you doing up?" He asked as he walked over to me.

"I need something to drink." I lied. "Is everything alright?"

"Everything's fine." He gave me a small smile before he grabbed his glass off of the table and handed it to me. "After you're done, go straight back to bed."

"Dad, I'm 18, not 5." I sighed before taking a sip of the water. He gave me a stern look and I rolled my eyes. "Fine."

"Alright, I'll be back soon." He headed over to the door and slipped his shoes on. "I love you."

"Love you too Dad." I said before downing the rest of the water and setting the glass back onto the table. Sighing, I walked back into my room and slid under the covers. Looking out the window, I marveled at the Earth. It was beautiful from up here. Hopefully, I'd be part of the generation that would get to go back down to Earth. Whenever that may happen. Pushing my fantasies to the side, I laid on my back and closed my eyes before letting sleep take over.

~oOoOo~

"They just left in the middle of the night?" Luke asked as we went to get our lunch rations.

"Yeah." I nodded. "Do you think everything's okay with the oxygen supply? It's been failing an awful lot lately."

"I'm sure everything's fine." He smiled as he threw his arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah, because everything's just fine and dandy in this hell hole." I rolled my eyes and I heard Luke chuckle. "It's not funny!" I said as I lightly punched his chest while fighting a grin that was slowly making its way onto my face.

"Oh, stop being such a Debbie Downer." I gave him a disgusted face and he shrugged. "Or Negative Nancy, whichever you prefer." We stopped in the line and waited for the people ahead of us to get their rations.

"Uhm, yeah, I'll be Negative Nancy today, thanks." I laughed.

"See? Now that's the smile I like to see." I rolled my eyes, the grin still on my face. The man ahead of us got his food, and I wasted no time pressing my finger to the scanner; I was starving. I was in love with food, it wasn't even funny. We were going to get married someday. After Luke had gotten his rations, he came over to me and looked around.

"Do you wanna sit with Wells?"

"Yeah, let's do that, and risk Kyle going over and sitting with him? I don't think so, I'm ignoring that asshole." I veered off and sat at a far end of the mess hall, far away from Wells.

"Sorry, I didn't think of that." Luke gave me an apologetic smile as he sat down. I could never resist it. And that faggot knew it.

"I suppose I'll forgive you this one time." I stressed.

"Do you have any idea how many times you've said that? If I had a ration for everytime you said that phrase, I'd be so fat the Ark would fall out of orbit and crash onto the Earth!" He exclaimed and I almost choked on what little food I was eating. After managing to get it down safely, I turned to Luke.

"You could have said that you would have the best things on the Ark, with the trading system and all."

"Yeah, well, for one, that's illegal, and two, you wouldn't have laughed if I said that." He pointed out. "And you know how much I love that laugh of yours." He teased.

"Oh yeah, because it's just sooo attractive." I scoffed.

"It's adorable! It's the cutest giggle I've ever heard!" He exclaimed, making some of the people around us look in our direction.

"The hell are you looking at? Get back to your boring lives and tasteless food." I said, looking at them with distaste before turning back to Luke. "And you have some serious issues."

"I know." Luke shrugged and I rolled my eyes. "So, about that chemistry test." He started, making me groan in annoyance. He knew I sucked in chemistry. "What'd you get?"

"A B-minus." I sighed.

"Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you sucked." He bluntly stated.

"Well, that's not rude or anything you jackass."

"Hey now." He chuckled. "That's offensive. I am not a donkey."

"Well, you could have had me fooled."

"Oh, come on Ali! I was just kidding. You know I love you." He gave me a lopsided grin. "I got an A on it, just in case you were wondering."

"I love you too Luke, you shithead."

"Again with the name calling!" He chuckled. "But then again, I really shouldn't expect anything less from you huh?"

"Damn straight." I nodded with a smile.

After we had finished our rations and turned in our trays, we started walking through the empty halls.

"Wanna come over and watch a movie?" Luke asked.

"Sure. Like what?"

"Back To The Future?" He suggested as a grin came across my features.

"No brainer." I agreed as we turned down a hall, heading to Luke's quarters.

"Hey Aliana. Have you seen your father?" I turned around and saw Kyle standing there in his guard uniform. He was Shumway's son, and just as much of an asshole. It must be hereditary.

"No, sorry, it wasn't my turn to babysit him last. Check your father, he seems to know where I am at all times right? So surely he knows where my father is." I spat before turning sharp on my heel and continuing down the hallway.

"I still can't believe you dated him." Luke snickered.

"Come on Luke." I said, exasperated. "It was damn near 2 months ago. Are you ever going to let it drop"? I mean, I get it, a 18 year old dating a 22 year old isn't morally right. Got that memo. Been there, done that, have an official t-shirt to prove it. Can we move on now?"

"I dunno. It's pretty nice to have something over your head."

"I'll tell your mother that you were 16 and talking to a 21 year old from Hydra Station." I smirked.

"What?" He looked at me, his eyes widening. "How do you know about that?"

"I know about everything Luke." He started to laugh nervously.

"2 months ago? Funny, I can't seem to remember a thing."

"I thought so." I smirked as we turned another hallway.

"In all seriousness Aliana." Luke started as he caught up with me. "You can always count on me. You know that right? I'm always here for you."

"I know." I nodded. "And I'm always here for you." I threw my arms around his shoulders as we walked down the hall, making it slightly awkward without stumbling over each other, but neither of us really complained.
