Before Chef Hatchet whipped up meals for the contestants on "Total Drama Island", he had a very different job: he was a daycare supervisor. In this role, he looked after younger versions of many of the future "Total Drama" contestants, such as Duncan, Beth, Leshawna, Gwen, and others.
After leaving the daycare, Chef Hatchet crossed paths with Chris McLean. The two had been friends since childhood. Chris offered Chef a position as a cook on his new reality show, "Total Drama Island". Chef Hatchet, not expecting any familiar faces, accepted. Little did he know, he'd be reunited with many of the children he once supervised, now teenagers competing on the island - except for Jude, of course
