Prologue: The Corridor Game

A few kids laugh in a corridor they've played in since their younger ages. Giggling, jumping, and tagging. Any type of fun that an 11 year old could have in this day and age. This dark and shady corridor could, and was creepy. The again, who really cares when you've played in it for years stacked upon years. It's not like something bad has happened before right?

"Hey pass it here!" A little boy runs one way the suddenly stops before turning the other to 'juke' his opponent.

"Wall pass!" I yell, lining up a throw and bouncing it off a padded wall. It ricochets off and falls directly into my teammates hands.

"Nice! Now go over there!" He points behind me intended to fool the opponent, but unlike what they thought, I went the opposite way of his point and easily got the ball passed to me.

"Alright that's two points now! Let's go for the triple!" But you be game was stopped by a few echoing footsteps gradually getting louder. "Everybody stop! Remember what my mom said!" They all paused and backed up towards the door. Deciding not to go inside yet they awaited the person walking towards them.

Emerging from a corner, they remove an old sports hat and shouts the odd words of: "Could I play with you guys?"

"Oh... I think it's a teenager..." I whisper awaiting a response from anybody but it all runs silent. I decide to break this silent mirror with the shattering glass of my vocal cords.

"Oh-uh... Why?" My vocabulary isn't great, but I tried to work my voice to sound smart and intelligent in front of this intimidating man who was really just a few years older than me.

"Well... I often hear commotion around here every single day when walking to work, and you always seem to be laughing. I wanted to know what was so fun." I nodded and signaled him to get closer.

"Uh..." I gathered a few knowledgeable words and spouted them from my lips. "Do you intend to hear the rules of this game?" He nods. "Alright, then I'll have the other ones explain, I dunno them all from memory. I also need to use the restroom..."

A smile arises from my mouth. "Don't miss me to much!" I twist the knob, open the door, walk in, and close it. Walking to the bathroom I begin thinking.

"Wow. I left a bit quickly there, I hope they fully understood what I said. I didn't even give them a chance to respond." I sighed and took a deep breath. "Well who cares. Mom told us to keep strangers away, but this man seems genuine. We are just a bunch of kids playing around having fun. Nothing bad has happened before, so why would something bad happen now?"

"Right?"
