They left us alone, the kids in the dark to burn out forever or light up a spark.
We all sat around the campfire listening to music and Kids in the Dark by All Time Low came on. Luke was quietly strumming his guitar for background music. I absolutely loved this song.
"I can tell you like this song," Michael leaned in and whispered to me. I realized I was singing along to it.
"You have a beautiful voice," he smiled making me blush.
"Why thank you," I shivered as a breeze blew by.
"Are you cold? Here take my jacket," Michael said not even letting me answer.
"Thanks Mikey."
We all sat around the campfire. Most of our faces were dazed while looking at the fire glisten up into the sky. I realized then we all had very different personalities. Not one of us is exactly the same. neither is anyone in the world. We were all perfectly different from each other. I think that's how the world should be viewed. We're all different, but perfect in our own ways. It was at this point where all I felt was pure happiness and bliss. I wouldn't of wanted my life here in California to turn out any other way.
"Hey do you have stuff for s'mores?" Ali asked excited.
"I don't know... Let me go look," I got up from my seat and went into the kitchen. Surprisingly, we had everything we needed.
"Oh perfect!" Ali said walking up to me.
"Wanna gather sticks with me?"
"Sure-" Ali was cut off by Michael.
"I'll help her, it's okay," he smiled at Ali. Ali just smirked at me and went back to her seat.
"Wait, I think I have a flashlight. Brb," I ran into the house and looked in the drawer by the sink. "Jackpot," I said to myself grabbing the flashlight and proceeding outside.
"Oh look! There's a good one," Michael and I both bent down to pick up the stick. Our hands touched and for some reason it made me nervous. I looked at him and smiled. Of course he has to smile back at me making me swoon. I was caught off guard and he grabbed the stick out of my hand and began running away.
"What? No! That's not fair. You know your smile makes me weak Michael. I want that stick!" I yelled at him while chasing him around.
After I finally caught up to him I grabbed his arm and pulled him to face me. We both looked at each other trying to catch our breath.
After a few seconds of looking at each other, Michael leaned in to kiss me. I loved the feeling of his lips on mine. They always moved perfectly with each other, like they were meant to be together.
"Shush. They'll hear us."
"Shut up Luke, you talking's not going to help."
After that I saw a camera flash out of the corner of my eye.
"What the hell Ali?" I heard Ashton say.
I turned to look at them and then Michael did too.
"Sorry... you guys were just so cute," Ali admitted.
"Whatever," I laughed and Michael and I walked back to the fire.
"We got 6 sticks one for each of us," I passed out the sticks to everyone then passed around the marshmallows.
Once mine was done Michael helped me put it on the graham crackers and chocolate. (a/n- I need you all to picture that bc goals)
"Hey, it's getting pretty late do you guys just wanna spend the night? I mean Michael already pretty much is. Ali and Ashton are already. So... Luke and Calum? How about you?" I questioned.
"I don't care," Luke said, "me either," Calum joined in.
"Okay it's settled then. Slumber party! Okay so here's how it's gonna work. Ali and I will sleep in my room. Luke and Michael will sleep in Michael's room, and Calum and Ashton you guys can sleep on the couch."
"Or we could just all sleep in the living room on the floor.." Calum said like my idea was stupid.
"Okay, I guess we'll let Cal be the leader. I mean this is his house," I said sarcastically.
Calum put his hands up in defense. "Hey it was just an idea that way we can all be together."
"I mean I guess the living room is pretty big," I shrugged.
"Calum's the smart one now. Never would've seen that one coming," I said making him frown.
"I'm sorry Calum you know I didn't mean it," I told him like I was talking to a puppy.
I slept in between Michael and Ashton. and Ali was on Ashton's other side and Luke was next to her and then Calum was left on the other end next to Michael. I was facing Michael but I turned to face Ashton for a second because he tapped my shoulder.
"Hey, we're cool... right?" he asked referring to the incident.
"Yeah... of course," I forgave Ashton. I just lost a lot of trust in him.
He smiled and turned over. I did the same. I heard a loud boom coming from the other room.
"Michael did you hear that?" I asked worriedly.
"Yeah... hey Ash?" Michael said poking at Ashton's arm.
"Did you hear that?"
"Yeah? What was it?"
"I don't know wanna go check it out?"
"It was the door I think," I pointed out.
"Sure," Ashton replied to Michael.
Michael and Ashton both got up to go check downstairs.
"Wait guys," they both turned around and looked at me, "it could be my dad. I'm coming with you I don't want him to hurt you guys."
"Well he might hurt you," Michael added.
"I'll just tag along behind you guys okay?"
"Okay," they both said together.
We slowly walked downstairs. I heard a lot of banging coming from the kitchen. It has to be him. Michael and Ashton walked into the kitchen cautiously. Making the figure turn around. It was him and he was drunk.
"Who the hell are you?! Get out of my house!"
I stepped in.
"Dad he is just my friend-" I was cut off by his fist coming in contact with my my cheek. The same one as last time too.
Michael and Ashton immediately punched him in the face repeatedly.
"Guys, seriously. Stop," I said trying to push them off but I lost my balance from dizziness and fell to my knees. Michael and my dad were throwing punches at each other while Ashton ran over to me to see if I was okay.
"Michael, Stop! Please stop him Ashton," I yelled.
Then everything went black.
