At the hospital

Eddie's POV

Kacey was lying in the hospital bed after surgery, still asleep. Jack was asleep next to her legs in the bed, I had taken Chris to Buck's apartment after Kacey got out of surgery. Jack wouldn't leave her side no matter what. I decided to leave, grabbing my stuff as Bobby walked into the room.

"Hey, you okay, kid?" Bobby asked.

"Yeah, I just need to go check on Chris." I lied.

I left going to the last place that got Kacey and I out of stress, the fight club, my body was heavily bruised from the last few nights. Since Kacey has been in the hospital ever since the accident, I've been leaving every night to fight and get the stress off my chest and to make some extra money. I was worried about people finding out, but at this point, I also didn't care. After the fight, I would go to Buck's place and pick up Chris to go home. When we get home, I put Chris to bed and lay in bed worrying about Kacey. The doctors keep staying, and she'll wake up soon, but every time I walk into her room. She is still asleep in a coma. I just want her to wake up. I don't want to be fighting either, but it's better than cheating. I swore to myself when I found Kacey again that I'd never cheat on another person in my life. I've been loyal to Kacey. I didn't want that to change along with Buck going to beat my ass if I hurt her in any way, shape, or form. The next morning, Clara showed up, taking Chris to school as I drove to the hospital. I walked into Kacey's room with Buck, following behind me, flirting with the nurse. I looked up and saw Kacey sitting up with Jack next to her, hugging him.

"Kacey..." I said in shock.

I took a step forward, bumping into the chair, as it didn't move. I looked down to see Judd asleep in the chair. I walked around the chair and fell into the bed, wrapping my arms around her as I started to cry. Jack moved out of his mom's arms as I hugged her. I felt Kacey hug me back and rub my back. I started sobbing with my head in her lap as she played with my hair.

"I was so afraid that you weren't gonna wake up, baby." I said into her lap.

"I'm awake and here, baby. It's okay." She said, running a hand through my hair.

I stood up, looking at her as I sat on the edge of her bed. I watched as the nurse checked all her vitals to be sure she's okay. As the nurse left, I watched Buck walk out the door to follow her. Kacey watched her brother and scoffed at his actions.

"Oh Buck and his ways." Kacey said.

I chuckled at her and laid down next to her, I felt her start to play with my hair as she leaned back relaxing again. Judd started to stir awake as Jack was lying on my chest watching Kacey.

"Kacey, you're awake." Judd said.

"Yeah, my vitals are fine. How long was I out for?" She asked.

"About 2 weeks." I said silently.

Judd slowly nodded as Kacey looked upset and in shock that she didn't think that could happen. I held Jack close to me cause the thought of losing him and her scared me.

"Jack didn't leave your side the entire time. I tried to get Judd and Buck to get him to go to school, but he refused." I explained.

Kacey sighed after hearing what I said. I looked down to Jack, who had fallen asleep on my chest. I rubbed his hair and sat up, laying him next to her body. I got up and walked around to Judd, giving him a hug before he left.

"Thanks, Judd." I said as he left.

I turned back to Kacey as she sat up, looking down at her son. I pulled my phone out and looked at the picture of the ultrasound that the doctors had done when she was in a coma. I put my phone on the bed for her to see the image. I turned away and slowly went to shut the door.

"Eddie, what is this?" Kacey asked, picking up my phone.

"That's the ultrasound they took a few days ago. That's our babies." I said as tears started to leave my eyes.

"Babies??" She questioned.

"Twins.." I said.

I watched as Kacey started to cry. I walked closer and held her in my arms as she laid her head on my chest and cried in disbelief. I rubbed her back.

"I know, baby. I'm sorry." I said.

"Shhh, Edds, it's not your fault. Don't be sorry. I wanted this to happen, just not while I was in a coma and unhealthy. I want to be healthy for these babies and myself and you." She said with a few sniffles.

I nodded, understanding. The nurse walked back in to check on her again.

"I see, we've heard the big news. Congratulations. Now, for some even bigger news, we'll be discharging you in the next few days. As of your wounds, most have been healing just fine. Except for the one in your right shoulder blade, that one has some more healing to do." The nurse said.

"Okay, thank you so much for taking care of me and making sure I was okay." She said to the nurse.

"You're very welcome. Your boyfriend here came in every day to check on Jack and you. Also, I learned that your brother was very worried about losing you." The nurse told Kacey.

I watched as Kacey smiled. She was happy, my baby girl was safe and happy, that's all that matters to me. I watched as Kacey and the nurse who happened to be named Lucy get along and talk about lots of stuff. I got up from where I was to go get food for everyone. I saw Chim, Hen, and Bobby in the lobby with Buck and Maddie. Chim and Hen walked up to me.

"She's awake, right? We can go see her now??" Hen asked urgently.

"Yes, she's awake. Go see her guys. She'll be happy to see you guys." I said, smiling.

I followed my team as they all walked into Kacey's room.

Kacey's POV

I saw my entire team walk into my room with Eddie following behind Buck. Hen immediately walked up and hugged me. I hugged back tightly. I didn't realize how much I missed my family until I was gone. They missed me just as much as I missed them. Hen let go, and Chim hugged me next, kissing me on the head.

"Thank God, we're so happy to see you alive." Chim said, pulling away.

Chimney has always felt like an older brother to me when it came to the 118, and when him and Maddie got together. He truly did become like an older brother. Maddie and Buck came up as Chim stepped away. Buck hugged me so tight, I felt like I couldn't breathe. I tapped on Buck's arm as a signal to let me go. Buck let go and stepped away as Bobby looked at me and smiled.

"Glad you're alive, kid. I don't know what we would have done without you." Bobby said, petting my hair.

I closed my eyes in comfort as he brushed my hair with his hand. Bobby had been like a father figure for Buck and I both when we started in the 118. He took care of us and always made sure we were okay. I looked at Eddie as Bobby stepped away. Eddie walked over, kissing me on the lips as everyone watched. I heard aws and just kissed back as he cupped my cheek with his hand, deepening the kiss. I kissed one last time and pulled away as everyone started to leave. I pulled Eddie's face back to mine, closing the gap between our lips as we kissed..
