After the ordeal at the castle, Fiona slid down the side of the hill, now looking at the landscape beyond the volcano. After 17 long years of being trapped and locked up in a tower, it was her chance to be free and see what life was like beyond the old building.
"You did it, you rescued me!" Fiona announced happily. She couldn't believe that she was finally leaving the tower behind. "You're amazing! You're wonderful, you're-" She turned back, and saw Dante, Shrek, and Clementine run into one another after sliding down the hill. "A little unorthodox, I'll admit. But thy deed is great, and they heart is pure... I am eternally in your debt..."
"Hmph. 誰も彼女に感謝することを教えなかったと思います。" Dante huffed, crossing his arms. (Translation from Japanese: I don't think anyone ever taught her to be grateful.)
"And where would a brave knight be without his noble dragon? And, quite a handsome one at that." Fiona added in, scratching Dante's chin with her finger as if he were a kitten.
Dante chuckled. "You flatter me, Princess. But, my heart belongs to someone else." He said, winking at Clementine. Clementine blushed, although a small smile was making itself known on her face.
"The battle has been won." Fiona walked to Shrek. "You may remove your helmet, good sir Knight."
"Um, no..." Shrek was obviously hesitant.
"Why not?" Fiona asked in confusion.
"I... I have helmet hair." Shrek replied nervously.
Dante smirked.
"You don't have any hair, Shrek. You've got nothing to worry about."
"Please, I would'st like to look up to the face of my rescuer." Fiona insisted.
"No, no, you wouldn't-st." Shrek insisted back.
"But how will you kiss me?" Fiona then asked.
"What?!" Shrek asked in surprise, backing into a nearby tree trunk. "That wasn't in the job description!" He said to Dante and Clementine.
"Uh... Princess, maybe you could shed some light for the boys?" Clementine suggested.
"Of course. It's destiny." Fiona replied.
"Oh, you must know how it goes. A princess locked away in a tower and beset by a dragon, is rescued by a brave knight, and they share true love's first kiss." She said, almost like she wrote the poem herself.Dante quickly fits in the pieces. "Wait. With Shrek? You think-- Wait a minute." He started chuckling a little. "You think that Shrek is your true love?" He asked her.
"Well, yes." Fiona replied.
Dante, Clementine, and Shrek looked to one another for a moment, then they all laughed out loud. Clementine held her stomach as she laughed, while Dante tried to cover his mouth to no avail.
"She thinks Shrek is her true love."
Dante wheezed, as he fell onto his side while laughing."What is so funny?" Fiona asked with a glare.
"Listen. Let's just say that he's not your type." Clementine said.
"Of course he is, he's my rescuer." Fiona replied. "Now, now, remove your helmet." She then told Shrek.
"Look, I really don't think that's a good idea." Shrek said to the princess.
"I think you should take his word for it Princess. Because I assure you that my friend speaks the truth. He's not exactly what you're expecting." Dante interjected.
