Okay!" She says holding on tight before she's ripped away from him by her parents, the two of them dragging her to their car. Wally goes to follow him, but an upset looking Barnaby stops him, clearly angry at the circumstances.

"I'm sorry kid... but there's nothing we can do..." he holds Wally in place as they load her into the car. He breaks free from Barnaby's grasp and runs to the sidewalk to watch as they drive away, her paint on his cast drying in the breeze...

11 years later

A man with a color splotched white lab coat hunched over his desk, his dark blue hair messy as his eyes scans across the many papers. He rubs his eyes and tightly grips his nearly empty cold coffee mug before hearing a knock on his door. He groans and turns his head irritably and glares at the door

"Whose there?!" he calls out in and irritated voice, "I said I was not to be disturbed!"

A woman pokes her into the room, blue eyes sparkling slightly as they scan the room. "Coffee delivery! Julie mentioned that you needed a refill down in the break room but that you didn't want to come get it... something about being too stubborn to leave your desk?" She opened the door the rest of the way, stepping into the doorway, no trace of fear displayed on her face.

Wally glares at her and narrows his eyes, before speaking in a low, threatening voice. "I don't recognize you, who are you and why are you in my factory?!"

The woman looks vaguely startled as she pauses in the doorway, but quickly shakes it off before he notices. She sighs patiently, "you know, not everyone has ulterior motives." She shakes her head. "my name is y/n, I'm the new assistant your wife hired for you, though she said you hated the idea." She chuckled.

he continues to glare as he tilts his head slightly and replies in a low tone, a tinge of anger creeping into his voice. "I have trust issues with people, and if you are a member of this lab, new or not, you should know how I feel about people in general by reputation. ESPECIALLY if you've been talking to my wife." He growls.

A quiet cracking sound appeared in the room, as he squeezed the mug of cold coffee in his cand, the ceramic of the mug began to crack in his hand.

"You're going to break your mug" she replied flatly to him, unphased by his anger. "I will not give you a reason not to trust me or be angry, but I also won't let you talk down to me, alright? I'm not as easily scared away as I heard your previous assistants were." She sighs and begins walking toward his desk, "i'd like to be at least somewhat civil if you'll let me."

a loud shattering sound came from the mug he's holding as it explodes in his hands, him looking down disappointed. He looks up to see y/n still standing in front if his desk, looking him in the face, completely ignoring the mess, shocking him slightly.

She chuckles under her breath, surprising him further by holding out the new cup of coffee. "I told you it was going to break. You know, you may actually feel a little less stressed if you talked to another person instead of sulking at your desk and overloading yourself with paperwork." She smiled as she walked over and searched one of his cabinets for a towel.

Wally raises an eyebrow and looks down skeptically at the new cup, then back at Y/n who found a towel and was now calmly cleaning up his mess. "How did you know I was going to need a new cup of coffee? Did my wife tell you?"

She shrugged, not looking back at him as she threw away the shards of his old cup into a trashcan, placing the towel on top of a pile of dirty lab coats. She wrinkled her nose at the pile, resolving to clean his office later, before smiling slightly and turning around.

"No, someone mentioned in the break room as I walked in that you hadn't been down in a few hours for a new cup, as for the whole new mug, i assumed you were stressed and apparently guessed correctly, as i could see your mug cracking the moment i entered the room" She looked at him critically, "Have you eaten recently?"
