In my younger and more vulnerable years, I often think to myself. "What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet;". Or if we could "live offa tha fatta tha lan". But now that I think of it, It's all a bunch of bullshit in all reality. I mean really, what do those novels teach us? Nothing. They teach us to hope, in a world empty of hope, Especially in the post 9/11 world. I've seen more heinous acts in the world than I would like to acknowledge. The attempted assassination of Malala Yousafzai, the Boston Marathon Bombing, The Newton CT. Shooting, just to name a Few. So what do we do to change it? We sit, doing nothing, because we feel powerless. We have a story worth telling, And we need to be heard. Why do we let tho world take advantage of us? Is it because we feel powerless in a world where the top one percent of the world own forty percent of the worlds wealth? We live in a world where a hate organization uses the word of a religious text to spread hate into the world. We live in a world where we run a budget deficit in our nation, so our solution is to cut firefighters and police officers benefits. We live in a world that has riots over the rights of people to do what they want with their sexuality, and the right to acknowledge it in their own way. And what do we get from it? A life full of misery and pain.
I don't know about you. But this isn't a world I want to be anywhere near.
