The shelves were lined with all sorts of things. Magic chalk, scrolls and other magical knick knacks. There was a wide variety of items for sale here and for relatively cheap too. Though I'd rather not spend money if I didn't have to.

"See anything you like? Feel free to browse my selection." Said the purple robed man sitting at the counter. He looked younger than I thought, no older than 30 years old, at a glance.

"Actually I do have a question" I said

"Oh?"

"Are you one of Count Ilhalis' mages? The purple is a dead giveaway."

"I suppose it is... but yes I serve under the count along with many of my brethren"

"Why are you running this shop then?"

"Well officially speaking, I am merely here to keep an eye on the citizens after the rebellion... however when I saw the destruction that me and my brethren caused I thought I could use my magic to help these people and so I opened this shop. Many of the people here have great need of my services." That actually... seems like a noble thing to do. Is this guy really apart of some dark cult?

After browsing the store for a while we left. Some of the items did pique my interest, like a necklace that summons an elemental or a cup that's always filled with water, but not enough to warrant me splurging.

"Is this the place?" I asked. We were in one of the many abandoned buildings of this place and stood in front of a door that led to the basement.

"Yes" Mathra said.  Mathra knocked on the door. "I am honour's blade"

A voice came from the other side "Come in" and the door swung open, revealing a brown haired man wearing a green breastplate that had bronze engravings. "My lord! I'm so glad you're- wait who are you?" The man's voice grew hostile as he looked at me and drew his sword "Answer me knave! If you hurt milord then I shall remove your head right here and now!"

"This guy has anger issues" Eeuna chimed in, perspective as always

"Woah there, I'm not here to hurt anyone." I said

"That's just what a villain would say!" He retorted

"Calm down Trindus, we can trust him. He's my... bodyguard of sorts." Mathra interjected

Trindus sheathed his sword "Very well, if my leige says you are to be trusted then I shall trust you. But beware, don't try anything lest my hand slips and I cut you down."

Mathra walked down the stairs and I followed him. There were a few steps that led into a dimly lit, midsized room that looked like a pub of some kind, with a counter with bar stools and several tables and chairs scattered around the place. Sitting around the counter were 3 people who were most likely former soldiers of count Ilhalis' army.

"Ah he is finally back. Welcome milord, it is good to see you again" A man wearing a typical butler outfit turned his attention to Mathra and made a short bow. Everyone else looked at Mathra and it seemed as if the room became a little brighter, metaphorically speaking. "And you must be Sorace. It is a pleasure to meet you, thank you for protecting milord. Now if you'll excuse me I shall go make tea" The butler exuded an air of servitude.

"How does he know who I am?"

"Ralith was in charge of recieving Mathra's letters while he was away so we could confirm his safety" An orange haired soldier said. He was wearing a breastplate of identical design to Trindus upstairs, however it was red and silver instead of green and bronze

"Yeah but he never tells us whatever is in those letters, only that milord was safe. We were so worried while you were gone." Said a lady wearing with dark green hair wearing a scale mail

"That's a necessary precaution I'm afraid. The more people who know the contents of those letters, the more likely the enemy is to find Mathra." The one in red armour said back

"I suppose I should introduce you to everyone." Mathra said "Guarding the door back there was Trindus. The one in red armour is Mested, the lady is Christa and he"

"Your tea milord" Ralith came over with a cup of tea and went back to the counter

"Is my butler, Ralith. All of them used to be knights."

"I see. Greetings to all of you, my name is Sorace and I'm here to see Count Ilhalas dead."

"Then your goal aligns with ours. Come have a seat, we'd like to hear your story" Mested gestured to the stool next to him. Seeing no reason not to do as he said I sat down and began sharing my story of how I met Mathra, how we travelled the country together and how we ended up here.
