I sat, folding my papers over and over. Making origami on a street corner, begging. I sighed. Id give anything for a chicken sandwich right now. chuckling, I placed the paper crane down. I watched people pass me by, busy with work, engrossed in their phones, laughing with friends. I smiled. How sweet.

"Unicorn!" i glanced at the sound, startled. A small demon child, likely no older then 5 was pointing at the tiny unicorn i made. I looked around for a parent, or someone who was missing a kid, no one caught my eye.

"Hey kiddo. Ill give you the unicorn if you sit with me for a bit."

"Yay!" she picked up the unicorn and waddled over beside me, sitting down.

"Wheres your mum darling?"

"Over there." she pointed at a woman, deep in conversation with another person. I sighed.

"Ah. very nice, stay with me till she notices alright?"

"Okay!" the small child sat beside me quietly playing with her paper unicorn while i watched her mother and conversation partner. Soon enough the conversation ended. Then panic set in as she realized she couldnt find her daughter. "Ma'am!" i yelled out. Her head snapped to me and i pointed to the kid. She rushed over, anger in her eyes, her right hand had small red sparks flying between her fingers. I curled back, and considered baring my neck, although im not sure demons know the meaning of a wolf bearing his neck. I opted instead to hold up my hands in surrender and bow my head. She approached and glared at me for a moment.

"Why do you have my kid?" i shrugged

"She wandered over, to look at my origami. I didnt want her getting lost so i told her to stay with me till you were done." i said quietly. A pause. The sparks stopped entirely.

"Thank you." i nodded.

"Mommy! Look look look!" she shoved the unicorn into her mothers face grinning. "Unicorn!" she nodded and picked her daughter.

"Yes a unicorn. You need to stop wandering off." she looked at me and sighed, puling out her wallet and handing me a 20. "A thank you." i took it.

"Thats a lot for a paper unicorn-"

"Consider it as an apology then." she waved her hand dissmissively. "I dont care." i nodded.

"Thank you ma'am." she shrugged and walked away. I stared at the 20, then at my origami and smiled. Placing it in my pocket i stood and stretched. Grabbing my backpack, i placed my paper in gingerly, my blanket in next, and my small old phone in the back. This calls for dinner, im starving. I havent eaten in forever. Or well, havent eaten well i suppose. Dumpster diving doest count. Picking my back up and wearing it on my back i hesitated. What do i want to eat? Better question, what can i eat without getting sick? Maybe soup? A sub? I can make that last all day, so maybe. I sighed.

"What if i just save it for later? Not that hungry anyways. Im more tired then anything." i hummed. "Yeah.. maybe ill sleep first, eat later." humming, happy with my decision i lurked among back ally's, trying to find unclaimed land, sniffing out whats covered in peoples scent and what isnt. It took me a bi but i found a relatively clean spot with very little scent, people dont come here often. I grinned and set up camp, using my sweater as a pillow, and my blanket as well, a blanket. I set up camp for the night to sleep. Curling inwards I closed my eyes, and mumbled a quiet apology before I passed out. Falling asleep was the easy part, staying asleep was the hard part.

I rolled over and mumbled happily. The bed was so soft and warm-

Wait. bed?

I snapped awake and looked around white room. Soft bed. Bookshelf. There were two doors. I tried the closest one, it opened easily. A modern and fancy bathroom was on the other side, no more doors, no way out. I tried the other one, locked. outside the windows was a massive forest. I fell off the bed in shock.
