"Cody! Pass me the ball!"
Josh, a freshman, yelled running in front of one of players from the opposite team, tripping in the process. Seeing as his only person he could pass to is down and all of his team mates were being blocked by players from the other team, Cody was about to throw a free ball when he spotted one of his players in the middle of the court surrounded by nobody. The players of the other team figured it was a waste of members to block that one player and let them be. Little did they know that that was the team's secret weapon.
"Ciara!"
Cody made one quick move and the ball was heading straight to Ciara. Considering everyone, except from her, was on the side of the court, directly under the hoop from where the opponents could shoot and Ciara was in the middle, the ball made its way to the little girl with the other players from the opposite team far away from her she got the ball and took a look a the players from both teams running towards her. "Amateurs" she snickered before running towards the hoop and shooting a three-pointer with ease.
People from her school stood up, cheering while those in her team ran to her and held her high in the air. The game ended and the score made a clear cut of who won with a 12-11. The players from the other team were shell-shocked. They knew they would not win but non of them would bet a dime that the little brunette would make the last shoot. They all exchanged a friendly handshake, congratulating the girl with the victorious smile on her petite face.
"I didn't know puppy eyes would make the last shoot"
A red head from the opposing team came to her with a handshake. He was one of the really good players in his team and was the one who nearly got the ball of her hands in one of the earlier rounds.
"Well puppy eyes did and now she's wagging her tail."
Ciara smirked and swiftly turned around and walked away from him, to her team, with her hair swinging like a dog's tail. Her team and her did their cheer before walking off the court.
"Good job Mustangs! Good game today. I want all of you to go celebrate, go home, have a good rest and I want to see you all energized on Monday. Got me team?"
"Yes coach!"
They all all went back to their locker room, talking about the game and laughing at Josh, who tripped. He was cool about it and laughed along. Then, 3 girls came in and ran straight to Ciara, who choked on the water she was drinking at the moment when she saw them.
"Oh. My. Gosh! Ciara! You were so good out ther- oh my gosh what is that stench!"
"Good game kiddo"
"You made your girls proud."
Ciara chuckled at her three friends before closing her water bottle and putting the towel over her shoulder. Ashley, Sam, Ally and Ciara are best friends. Ashley was the fashionista one who knew exactly what shirt matched with what and what never to wear unless they have a death wish. Sam was the tomboyish one who loved food and is the tough one in the clique. People usually says she is like Sam Puckett from iCarly but if you know her well enough, she isn't the bully exterior people see. She never punched someone for money or their food, she is actually moderately polite and never in her life has she been arrested. Ally was sort of like their leader. She will never say it but she is protective over her friends. Whenever something happens to one of them, she will make the person pays. People will do anything she asks because she's the number one Queen bee in Sunset High. But she isn't like those snobby ones like in movies, she has a heart and puts her social status to good use. As for Ciara, she is the one member who no one can define.
"Thanks guys! And Ash, that's the smell of the locker room and sweat."
"Oh gosh! Disgusting!"
Ciara snickers as the long haired blonde runs out.
"Hey so, do you guys wanna go to the mall later to celebrate your victory?
"Aww. Sorry I can't. I'm going to the pizza parlor to celebrate with the team. Unless, you wanna join us?"
Then there was a number of "Wait hold on a minute" or "No no no noppee"s in the room, even from the two girls. Even Jordan, a player from her team came up.
"Ciara, we do not mix with prissies like them. Remember when you came for the try outs and what we thought of you. Well, before you started playing."
"Ciara. People like Sam and I do not mix with athletes like them. I mean Sam would but they're scared of her."
Ciara smirks as she remembered her audition where the boys looked at the only girl who was small and quiet and wasn't even playing with a ball while waiting for her turn to join in the game with the other freshman who were trying out. The guys were snickering and when she went on the court, she made three three pointers in 7 minutes and the guys were quiet. At the end of the game, she dropped the ball, bowed and began to walk out of the court without saying a word. Of course the boys needed to hear her voice at least once.
"Hey wait!"
The girl in pigtails and purple high cuts stopped to turn around and look at the boy who called her.
"What's your name kid?"
"Benoit. Ciara Benoit"
"Well Ciara. You're on the team."
She also remembered when her and Sam had a fight full of yelling in the basketball court and when walking away, Sam let out the rest of her anger by deflating a basketball with her own bare hands and breaking down the door. That left the team scared of her and almost banned her from the court.
"Well, I had to give it a shot."
Ciara knows that never have two different social groups hanged out together. I mean there are some people who go into more than one, like her, but never two full groups together.
"Okay. See you on Monday, sweetie"
"See ya kiddo"
The two girls left Ciara to her own with the team. She went back to her locker to get ready for later. A team 90% full of guys at a pizza parlor is something that will get messy. Her team is not really the rough kind. Just. Very childish. And she sometimes acts like the big sister even though most of the time they treat her like a little sister. But she loves her team and she knows they love her.
