Chapter 6: James freaking Potter

AN: Time skip to the beginning of 3rd year. If you haven't noticed yet, the pacing of the story is fast. I'm just building background right now. Not much happens in the first few years and I didn't want to drag them out either. The meat of the plot will come up soon, I promise.

Chapter 6

Marlene's POV

Another year has passed and a new one begins as I sit on the Hogwarts Express waiting for Pandora. She was off talking to an older student and I'm just chilling as I enjoy the company of my other two best friends. Barty and Regulus got along better than I ever thought possible. After the first study session I invited Regulus to, he kind of stuck around. Our friendship has moved on from just last names to first names now – well more from his part considering everyone else has already nicknamed him Reggie every now and then much to his annoyance. Regulus still has a serious demeanor but Barty balances it out a bit by being lighthearted. He annoys Regulus for fun at times. If I'm being honest, I'd say Barty stays with us more for Pandora's sake. The guy has such a cute kitty crush on her and of course, our girl is oblivious to it all. Speaking of the devil, the compartment doors open and Barry's face brightens instantly from the sight of Pandora.

"Dora!" She takes a seat besides Barty, "What took you so long?"

"An upperclassman wanted to talk more about magical creatures. He was extremely interested in all the creatures I have come across."

I raised an eyebrow, "who?"

"His name is Xenophilius. Fifth year, I believe." Her eyes looked up as if to retrieve that bit of information.

So it's her future husband. That makes sense why he was interested. I looked at Barty to gauge his reaction and it wasn't pretty. His pout was all too noticeable, other than to the girl in question of course.

"If you want, Dora, you can talk to me about those things too." Pandora looks at Barty with a small smile.

"Thanks Barty."

Regulus and I glance at one another with knowing smirks. We decided to leave it alone for now as the two talk with fastination on all things magical. Unless Barty out right admits his feelings to Pandora, it won't go anywhere and by the looks of it, he should do it quickly before Xenophilius does.

It's another day at Hogwarts when I notice Pandora missing from the great hall. Barty and I looked around as we settled in our usual spot at the Ravenclaw table. Regulus must have noticed our off behavior and came over. "What are you two doing?"

"We can't find Pandora. Have you seen her? It's not like her to miss dinner."

"No, can't say I have. A bit of people are missing from my side as well." The Slytherins?

"Who?"

"My insane cousin and her little mean girls group." Realization hit me and Regulus right as he spoke the words. "Bugger." I jumped up from my seats and we ran out of the hall.

We looked around the usual empty classrooms as well as girls' restrooms before we heard sinister laughter and giggles. As we came to, there she was: on the floor surrounded by the foul, evil teenagers.

Immediately I took out my wand, "Step away from her!" Before I got to cast any spells, hexes were aimed directly towards me and Regulus pushed me out of the way. Barty ran towards Pandora immediately slamming his body into the unsuspecting perpetrators.

I quickly get onto my feet and send a stinging hex towards the ringleader whom I'm assuming is Bellatrix. I've been fortunate enough not to run into her yet. Why now?
