I hate school. I dragged myself out of bed like usual and grab my uniform out of my closet, where from the edge of my vision, I see the hoodie Xiao gave me when we were younger. I stared at it and stepped towards it. I lifted it up by the hood, it's still a bit big for me. I let out a quick chuckle, wondering how he got so big so fast.

As I set the hoodie down, I glance at my clock; I'm gonna be late! I quickly get changed and rushed to the bathroom to get my makeup done. I hurried downstairs, shoving my books into my backpack then running out of the kitchen.

"You better run! You're going to be late!" My mother yells while I sprint through the door.

"I know, bye mom!"

As I stumble my way into the classroom, I notice an unfamiliar figure standing at the front of the room. I tried desperately to slow down, but ended up crashing into her as I fell to the ground. I rubbed my head and noticed that the rest of the class had their eyes piercing me. I looked up to see a pretty blonde haired girl, her glistening amber eyes filled with distaste.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" She sneered.

"Sorry, but no need to be so rude...." I told her, as I stood myself up and walked to the back of the classroom and sat down. My head hung low as I pulled out my manga and started reading. I heard the girl sigh and mutter something under her breath.

The teacher walked into the classroom and stopped beside the new girl. She started speaking, just as Xiao dashed into the classroom.

"I'm so sorry for being late, Mr. Li! I'll go sit down right away!" He said as he flopped down in the chair next to me. He flashed me a quick smile before turning his attention towards the teacher.

"Alright class, we've got a new student today! This is Lumine," he looks down at the new student and smiled before continuing "Please introduce yourself to the class if you could."

"Hi everyone~ Like Mr. Li said, my name is Lumine. I play volleyball, I like painting, I love reading and playing videogames as well." She declared in a cheerful attitude, "I hope we can all be friends!" She said, her eyes gliding past me, landing on Xiao. I cringed at her over enthusiastic tone, but didn't say anything.

"Thank you for that fantastic introduction! Please choose a spot to sit down at." Lumine gave him a small nod, walking past me to sit down beside Xiao.

The lecture passed by in a haze, and by the time I snapped out of my day dreams, it had already been lunch. I was just about to make my way to the cafeteria with Xiao when Lumine stopped him.

"H-hey, what's your name? Mine's Lumine, and I was wondering if I could eat lunch with you..." Then she noticed me standing beside Xiao. "...Can I eat lunch with you guys? It's been really hard for me transferring to a new school and all ahaha."

"Xiao. I'm eating lunch with my friend here, but if you wish, you may join." He replied in an assertive tone which made my stomach flutter. I wanted to tell him to say no, but I realized I might come off as rude, which Xiao would definitely not want...

"Really? Yay! Thanks for letting me tag along!~" She exclaimed, grabbing Xiao's arm and skipping along.

"Do not touch me." Xiao said, pulling his arm away from her. Lumine frowned, before returning to her jaunty nature.

"That's fine, let's go!"

By now I was starting to get frustrated with this girl. Who was she to think that she could come hopping along and steal my best friend of 8 years?

As we arrived at our table, I could hear Lumine assaulting Xiao with a barrage of questions, some becoming exceedingly personal. Xiao always answered with short one word answers, which I was relieved about. While eating our food, Lumine insisted that Xiao become friends with her, of which Xiao reluctantly accepted.

"Well alright! That's a day! This was a fantastic first day, and you made it so much better, Xiao!" She said, resting her hand on his shoulder.

Xiao scoffed and responded with a single word.

"Okay."

"See you tomorrow Xiao!" She said, walking away from where the three of use stood.

I sighed, rolling my eyes. She was blatantly ignoring me! I'm definitely going to have to talk to Xiao about her. Turning towards Xiao, I opened my mouth to speak.

"So, Xiao. What do you think about this new girl?"
