I love the feeling that full football stadiums give me. It's beautiful to think that so many people with whole different lifes all come together, because everyone is loving the same club or rooting for their country. It somehow unites people without them ever knowing each other.
When the line ups are called out, I can hear Toby and Smilla talking.
„I don't know any of them, shit."
„Same dude, same."
Since I have known my friends I've tried to introduce them to clubs and players, so today I'm going again naming everyone from the Lionesses.Suddenly all the lights go out and the stadium is completely dark. The fans, including us, start to scream and applause immediately, because everyone knows it was time for kick off.
The whistle was blown and the ball is rolling. My heart is beating so fast out of joy and enthusiasm.
The match is a whole rollercoaster of emotions. The Lionesses are a strong team and they proof it with many goal opportunities in the first half. I never imagined the Germans playing that good tho.
I recognise Oberdorf, the midfielder from Germany I know, playing very good. When she has the ball she moves so smooth with it, don't minding one to even three players chasing her. No one could stop her, and I think that is the reason Germany is playing so good against our team. Not to put the other players of Germany in the background, they're of course all playing together in one team, but number 6 is insane.
It doesn't takes long enough until she receives the ball with an perfect assist from one of her teammates and shoots it into the top right corner of the net, making it 1-0 to the break for the Germans.
During the rest of the first half of the game, the lionesses have great chances to get a goal, but there was no shot that has made it through the goalkeeper or one of the defenders...Yet. I'm believing in my team. I always do.
Me and the significant six are obviously not in a good mood when England is 0:1 behind in the first 45 minutes, but Kiara made it work when she got us all another beer.
There are still 10 minutes until the second half is starting, but suddenly Oberdorf shows up and goes to pick up her water bottle, she forgot at the bench, when the players went resting in the cabinet. I don't care much about it and just give her a small glimpse, until I hear Rick say something.
„Bro is starring at us." he says while making an „wtf?" impression.
„Who?"
I ask him and turn around curious. He then takes my arm and turns me back to the pitch to face the bench.Once again the midfielder, with that brown glowing hair, is giving me a look that nearly burns through me, while she's sprinkling water from the bottle into her mouth.
My heart is beating so fast and I can feel my breath stopping.
„No...I don't think she is looking at us Rick. She is definitely looking at Alora. Like only Alora."
Lily mentions in disbelief. She saw it too. It wasn't my imagination or my bad sight. Oberdorf was starring at me, for the second time this match.
„I don't think so, Lily. Why would she?
Do I have something in my face?
You would have told me, right?"
I say back to my friend slowly.Even when I feel it too, I can't tell them that I think that a professional football player from the German national team is looking at me.
It would sound delusional as hell. Like I'm not that kind of an interesting person.„Guys can we not make a drama out of it? Maybe there is just someone behind us that she knows. Let's just enjoy our day and watch the game instead of worrying about some Olerfold, or whatever her name was. She is gone now either way." Smilla rants.
I'm kinda glad, that my „gets annoyed easy" girl Smilla is pushing this situation away.
We all need to chill the heck out. It was nothing.authors note —
