Chapter 7: A car to work on

When I woke up the next morning, Jack wasn't there. I heard the sound of pans and got the smell of bacon in the air. I stood up and headed downstairs, stretching as I headed down the hall. Ben was cooking as Jeff and Jack talked in the living room. I walked over to jack and sat beside him, laying my head on his shoulder.
Jack's clawed hand ran through my hair as he chuckled.
" morning, buttercup. Sleep okay?"
" yeah. What about you?"
" better than usual."
Jeff cracked a grin at him. " yeah, cuz you got a new 'teddy bear' to help you sleep."

Jack flipped him off as Ben and I laughed.
" you guys are worse than forth graders." Ben said, making three plates.  He headed over and headed out the food, jack heading into the kitchen to get his 'food'. The day was relatively quiet and peaceful. Jack and I relaxed outside on his porch in the porch swing, jack swaying us back and forth. Ben and Jeff had gone to the mansion because slender had summoned them to do a mission.
" I love you jack."
" I love you too buttercup. Come on, let's head inside. It's starting to get a little chilly out here."
I gave Jack a nod and we headed inside . As we both had our lunch, I turned to jack.

" do you know anyone else who would help us out jack?"
Jack thought for a second. " splendor might. He's more chill with humans. But the thing is, he lives about a week or so away from here, and he's only Slender brother who doesn't know what a phone is."
I leaned against the counter. " so to get his help. He'd have to make the trip all the to his place and fill him in on everything."
Jack gave me a nod as he finished his lunch.
" it be a shorter trip if we had a car. If Ben could find and Hotwire one that would be great. But it only be a matter of time til the police got a report for a stolen car...."

I sighed, standing up straight, putting my sandwich down. " so the choices would be steal a car and be risky, or go on foot and make the longer trip."
Jack gave another nod, washing his plate off in the sink. " sadly..."
I walked over and hugged him from behind. He let out a cat like purr and smiled down at me.
" when Jeff and Ben get back we can all think of something."
He gave me a nod and we headed to the couch, and sat waiting for the other two to come home.

It was about midnight when Ben and Jeff got home. Both looked annoyed and tired.
" hi guys." I smiled at them.
" sup, princess." Ben smiles back as Jeff waved, chugging a glass of water.
" me and (y/n) were talking earlier today. We were thinking he we somehow got to splendor, he'd be able to help us with slender."
Jeff and Ben turned to each other then back to us.
" how would we get there?"
" well that's the issue. We can walk there, but that would be a long and tiring trip on foot. Or we could take a car....but it would be reported stolen soon after we took it."

Ben and Jeff sat with us in living room, sighing heavily.
" well....I could go to a car graveyard. We can work on one there and use the scarps there to make a functioning car." Ben suggested
" car graveyard?"
" it's where people go to dump old and broken cars." I said, " sometimes they're used for scraps, other times they're just destroyed. My dad use to work at one. Actually,"
I turned to Ben, " the one he use to work at is abandoned now. We should be able to go there."
Jeff leaned forward " abandoned? What happened?"
" his boss got in trouble for selling car parts illegally."

Ben gave me a nod. " let's go. The sooner we have a car, the sooner we can leave."
We all got dressed, Ben turning into a more human form, Jeff and Jack putting surgical masks on and their hoods up so it would be harder to see their faces. I did the same, borrowing one of jacks hoodie. We all left and I lead the boys to the other side of town. It had been a while since I'd been there but my dad worked there for years, so I still new the path like the back of my hand. Soon, the old metal, rusted fence came into view. The security cameras long since dead, hung on the fence lifeless. Jack picked the large lock in the gate and we all ran in. Cars of all kinds lined up against each other. Ben poked his back as he let out a sigh.
" okay, let's get to work."

I have Ben a nod. " Jeff, the tools should still be in the main office. It's this way."
Jeff have a nod, taking off his mask.
" lead the way, toots."
Jeff and I left jack and Ben to find a proper car to work on.

(Jack's pov)
When Jeff and (y/n) left I turned to Ben.
" do you think you can do it?" I asked.
Ben shot me a smirk, " dude, I have the entire internet in the palm of my hand, plus, my bastard uncle use to be a mechanic."
I gave Ben a smile and nodded. Ben and I looked for a car that looked like it wouldn't need to much done with it. We ended up agreeing on a decent sized truck, when we heard Jeff and (y/n) return.
" we got the tools." Jeff said, both his and (y/n) arms full of different tools.

Ben smiled, " awesome, help me get to work Jeff. Jack, you and (y/n) look for some fuel for us to fill this thing up with."
We both nodded and took off to find some gas.
