Chapter 8: the driver to Splendor's

(Jacks pov)
We all worked throughout the night, and Ben was able to get quite a lot done. I sat with (y/n) off to the side. She had fallen asleep a little bit ago.
" that's all I can do for now...." Ben sighed, wiping the grease from his hands, " the sun is starting to rise. We should head home."
Jeff groaned, popping his back. " yeah, I'm tired and starved."
I nodded and picked up (y/n), all of us heading home. Jeff and I making sure our hood and masks were up as walked through town. We got back to the cabin in about 30 to 40 minutes.

But all of us came to a stop, hiding behind trees as we saw slender at the front door. His fist was slamming against the door, he'd been standing there a while. We all heard a growl as he teleported away. We sighed and quickly ran inside.
" damn that was close." Ben said, rubbing his eyes.
I flopped on the couch with (y/n) and held her close.
" oh my god. What is with that pick?"
" beat the hell out of us dude." Jeff groaned, taking the recliner.
" I say we try and steal some cash from the houses we hit, we'll need it for gas when we leave."
Jeff and I gave a nod, all of us, falling asleep in the livingroom, sleeping all damn day thanks to the hard work we did the night came.

When night came again, Jeff went out to "hunt" and gather up some money. (Y/n) and I went back to the junkyard to help Ben. Ben and I changed out the destroyed seats for better ones from a different car, while (y/n) was able to find a bit of paint to give the thing a new paint job. Jeff joined us about an hour later as Ben and I wrapped up putting the new seats in.
" hey guys" he waved, backpack in hand.
" I was able to score a lot, and even got (y/n) some clothes."

(Y/n) smiled at him "thanks Jeff."
" you got it, sis." Jeff turned to Ben, " how's the car?"
" almost done, actually. Just got to replace the tires, get it plate, and fuel it up. Then we can drive it back and pack up."
Jeff nods, sitting the back down. " I'll look for some tires. You wanna come help, shortass."
Ben rolled his eyes and the two left. (Y/n) walked over to me, hugging me tight.
" you okay, jack?" She asked, looking up at me.
" I will be once we get you out of here."
She smiled at me, cupping one of her hands on my cheek. I leaned into it, making the grin she gave.

" it'll be okay, jack." She got on her tippy toes and gave me a kiss.
If I had eyes, I'm sure they would be open wide right now. I pulled her close, almost picking her up. After a bit she pulled away and snuggles into me. I laid my head on hers and sighed, relaxing a bit. Ben and Jeff returned with some tires a few minutes later.
" okay, lovebirds. I'm gonna put the tires on while Ben makes a license plate for this damn thing. You mind helping, jack?"
I gave a nod, letting (y/n) go.

(Y/n's pov)
I sat as Jeff and Jack took care of the wheels. Ben came back not too long after and put on the plate. I helped by putting in what fuel we had as Ben hoped in the drivers seat.
" we good guys?" He asked.
" we're good." Jeff smirked.
" awesome! Hop in and let's go!"
We all got in and Ben started the truck up. It sprang to life, the motor roaring. We all cheered and high fives each other. Ben drive us off, heading back home as jack and I relaxed in the backseat. I snuggled into him, jack wrapping an arm around my shoulder. Jeff and Ben sang along to some rock song on the radio as I enjoyed the ride.
" you guys can't sing for shit." Jack laughed.

Jeff flipped him off, making him laugh. It took about 20 to 25 minutes to get home. We all got work packing clothes and food, putting the clothes in the back of the truck as the food were put into coolers.
" are you gonna be good on food, jack?" Ben asked, putting everything in the truck.
" I'll have more than enough."
We all headed to the truck when a powerful voice rang out in outrage.

"wait the fuck?!"
We all turned and standing there was a tall, faceless man in a nice suit. Jack took me into his arms as black tentacles came from the man's back. Jeff threw a knife at him, the blade going into his shoulder. The man screamed and seemed surprised.
" Jeff?! Ben!! What are you two doing!?"
" helping our friends! Guys get in!"
We loaded up, slamming the door shuts as Jeff took the driver's seat and sped off. We took off down the road as the sun began to rise. Jack refused to let go of me and kept his chase out the back window of the truck. I held onto jack, as if he would disappear.
" t-that was slender?"
Ben nodded, turning in his seat to face me.
" yeah, the pain in the ass himself...you okay?"
I nodded, snuggling into jacks arms. Jack pressed a kiss on my head, putting on his surgical mask and hood.
" it'll be okay. Let's just try and get to splendors."

Jeff nodded, doing the small with his mask and hood as he drove.
" it'll be okay, sis. Just stay close to us and we'll all keep you safe."
I nodded and buckled up, leaning my head on jacks shoulder. The drive for the first day was tense, but after an hour, Ben turned on some music, Jeff rolling the windows down. As the two sang, jack and I eventually jumped in. None of us could hold a tune to save our lives. We came to a red light and a car pulled up beside us. A boy whistled at me.
" hey beautiful." He smirked
I rolled my eyes and leaned against jack.
" aww what's the matter? Why don't you join us over here instead of those guys."

I smirked at him as Jack let out a growl.
" because my two best friends and boyfriend are more than ready to kill you."
Jack and Jeff moved there masks and hood and Ben began to glitch with a sharp tooth grin.
The guy let out a girlish scream as the light turned green and Jeff drove off. We all shared a laugh as we headed down the road towards the neck town. Ben actually took photos of us all.

Something tells me these guys haven't had fun like this for a long long time.
