June 1926
In the quiet night of a once bustling street of Brass players, people passing by and cars, an establishment known for its best Cajun cuisines called, Joe's Restaurant. It runs an illegal bar beneath its name. Glistening with music and people of wealth, with its lights that shines the seemingly dim place, filled with its finest wine and booze.
While the place is slowly coming to an end, nearing its closing time. In the side of the stage where the entertainers rest, now preparing to leave as their done for the night.
"Lucille! Are you done changing up? We gotta go before a certain rotten egg comes and bother us..." The red-head shouted across the fitting room, there's a brunette leaving the room all dressed up to retire.
"How impatient of you, Dahlia... and I can assure you that, that egg won't come. " Lucille said reaching out a hand for Dahlia to take.
"Now... let us scurry up, Dahlia." Says Lucille smiling gently awaiting for Dahlia's hand to take hers.
As Dahlia guided Lucille out of the building at the back, they now reached the street. Dahlia stopped and looked at Lucille, concerned for her friend walking home alone.
"Lucy, how about I take you home this time? I don't think it's safe for you to go home alone, now that a killer is still on the loose." She turns down her friend's offer yet again.
"I'll be fine, Lia, I live close by and I'll be alright, my friend." Dahlia only scoffed at her friend's remark.
"Fine, be safe Lucy." They said their goodbyes and parted ways..
As she walks with her cane to navigate her path, she picked up some murmuring voices to her far left, she didn't mind it and started to walk but to only trip and land on her knees.
"Ow.. " She hissed in pain.
The voices she heard suddenly got quiet... and was replaced by footsteps coming towards her. She began to quake and stand but it's making her tumble, frantically searching for her cane, as she grab a hold of it, she stood up and began walking away before getting caught up onto something possibly endangering her life.
She reached the building she resides in by entering and going up the stairs, reaching to her purse, grabbing the keys and unlocking the door.
"what a night..."
Locking the door behind, she tossed her purse aside on the couch as she began to undress leaving only the chemise on, she grabbed a shawl and sat in front of her vanity table.
"ugh.. If I didn't get up on time I don't know what could have happen to me..." She whispered to herself. While she was thinking her telephone began to ring, standing up from her seat and went to pick the telephone.
"Who would call at this hour..." She picked the telephone up. "Hello..? This is the Lucille Socorro speaking."
"..."
"Oh..! Dahlia, would did you call?" Worried voice can be heard from the other line.
"..."
"I got home safely, don't worry Lia." Smiling softly as she reassured her friend.
"..."
"I'll sleep now. Goodnight, Lia."
After the call ended Lucille went straight to bed.
