Chapter 5 - Strange Feeling

"I-it's okay..."

"Really?! I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into it though..."

Lyney then wiped his face as if he were crying, however, there were no tears on his face whatsoever. In the background, Lynette was munching on her Fish and Chips, seemingly leaving none for Lyney.

"Ah sorry, I'm just not a fan of Pate de Fruit, that's all"

"Oh, I assumed you liked it because you ordered two of them"

Paimon then looked up, realising our conversation

"Oh, no! You see, the Traveler ordered one for me and one for hers-"

I muffled Paimon's mouth to shut her mouth, glaring at her to not reveal more

"Hm? What was that Paimon?"

"Oh! What Paimon meant was that she bought one for me and one for... one of her friends! Yeah... That's it!"

"Is that so? Because I swore you were going to say she bought it for you and herself..."

"Nope! Haha you're just thinking to crazy conclusions!"

"Well it doesn't matter now I guess... What's more important is, how do you feel Lumine? After trying my Pate de Fruit."

Huh? Lyney knew something was up? I swore it was my feelings acting up again, but what Lyney said just now was suspicious... For now I'll just have to act like I have no idea what's going on

"What do you mean? All I did was eat a piece. You're not suggesting one of the ingredients were expired are you?!"

"Ah, apologies! I wasn't trying to lead you to that conclusion. It's just I added a special ingredient I normally wouldn't add, all I know is that it enhances the flavour... "

Something about Lyney's tone in the end sounded a bit unusual, but did that mean anything?

"Well I'll be off now! Lynette and I really need to practice our next act for our performance, and Freminet is too shy to stay outside this long! I bid you farewell, Lumine."

Just then, Lynette and Freminet stood up and walked by Lyney's side, all seemingly disappearing in the wind. That was a bit flashy, even if they were magicians.

"Yum yum that Pate de Fruit was delicious! We've got to get it next time Traveler!"

"I can't wait, I'm practically starving after having that conversation with Lyney"

"Oh! Uhm I may have or have not eaten your Pate de Fruit..."

"What?! But you knew it was for me!"

"Paimon thought you would've eaten the one Lyney gave you instead! Plus it looked delicious! Paimon was drooling when Lyney summoned it from his top hat! Hey, why didn't you finish it anyways? You love sweets, and Lyney made it especially for you"

"It is true I love sweets, but when I took that first bite I felt odd... And Lyney seemed to be aware of my condition. It's almost like he poisoned it, but with another substance instead..."

"Maybe it's the feeling of love!~"

"Love?! Paimon be serious, I can't feel love just from eating something he made"

"Nuh uh! Plus, you know on Valentines Day couples often give each other chocolate or some sort of sweet to commemorate their love!

It is true... And I did feel some sort of affection towards Lyney after trying that Pate de Fruit... Could this just simply be me denying my love for Lyney?
