Meet Aria Forrest, the girl who takes things either way too seriously or in a crude manner for an eighth grader. With her snarky comments and inability to simply let it go, she's far from anyone's image of a hero or heroine. She's not particularly popular material.

And then there's Carter Bacher, her nearly exact opposite. The guy who almost everyone is friends with. Wild, obnoxious and without a care in the world, it's no wonder why people either want to be associated with him or be him.

The two of them just wanted to move past middle school without any problems, or worse, contact with each other. Yet not everything goes exactly as planned. With the threat of flunking Spanish class and a deadline looming over their heads, Carter and Aria have two options: swim or sink.
