"LAST STOP!!!" — The bus driver yells, people getting up while grabbing their stuff behind them, some giggling and yapping away, some bumping into each other, even babies throwing fits because the bus is too cold. Behind all the chaos meets a petite girl scrambling her way through the crowded bus, trying desperately to hold onto her bags overfilled with belongings. Finally, she makes her way through the bus doors, taking a sigh of relief. -Ring Ring- The girl scatters through her pockets to pick up her phone "Did you survive the travel!?" The voice from the other line said. "Well obviously if I answered, that should mean something to you." The girl replied.
"I'm just looking out for you, your like, my only friend. Stay safe! I'll call you later!"The brunette girl got her stuff together as she began to walk down the street — 234 Parkingson Ave, House 102, is where the girl had to go, So she walked and walked. The girl looked around the neighborhood, putting on a genuine smile, that was until she turned the corner— into a dull, empty, block. She ever so slowly walked up the block, skimming through every house number. At last, the number: 102 appeared at the top of a glossy, red door. The girl looked up at the windows, noticing the curtains were closed, yet the lights were on. The girl took her time walking up the stairs, taking in a deep breath before knocking.
*Knock Knock*
The girl waited at the doorstep, practicing a fake grin incase she had that weird type of family that's always happy without explanation. The door rushed open, surprising the girl standing on the doorstep. The woman who answered the door looked exhausted, almost as if she hadn't had any rest for 3 days. "Apologies, you must be Aubrey, right?" Aubrey put on her overly cheesy, fake grin, just like she had practiced. "Yep, that's me..!" Aubreys eyes began to take focus on the other people standing at least 9 feet behind the woman. "I have step siblings..?" Her cheesy grin began to fade from her face, "Oh!—Yes, you do, 7 to the exact..!" The woman's face also looked as if she was putting up a fake grin, Aubrey began to wonder if the woman ever wanted to adopt all those kids, or maybe she did, only to later realize she made a mistake."Please, come inside!" The woman gestured, suddenly an intense feeling of coldness hit her.
Aubrey greeted herself to her new siblings, awkwardly waving at them.
"So—..I'm Lainey, that's Maxwell, Kenzie, Jared, Harrison, Christi, and Tim!" Tim slowly looked up, he was a short, frail, little boy. He wasn't known for being outgoing..Just very, short. "Make yourself at home, Aubrey!".
Home sweet home Aubrey thought to herself; as an intense feeling of coldness struck her once again.
